  • Such an iconic design.

  • @lonepantherkmt No, not everything. You're off on your manual vs. automatic theory, but I'm not going to beat a dead horse. Your willful ignorance is dumbfounding; you couldn't accept the fact that you were wrong so you turn into a troll. Complete idiot.

  • Rolex is better

  • Do you have any experience with Jaeger-Lecoultre ? I've been thinking of either purchasing a Panerai or JLC (most likely reverso). Just wondering if you could give me some input because it's been a real struggle to decide between the two brands. Anyways awesome video :)

  • @skadoodlez Panerai for sure, its a real man's watch. A classic look, sophisticated, yet powerful. Alot of attention from the ladies for sure... Alot more than other watches.

  • An ugly watch well made but ugly.

  • @lonepantherkmt If what u r trying to say is that automatic watches can be manually wound, then u r correct.

  • He says "Panerai" correctly but with a north American accent. He might try holding the "rye" sound just a millisecond longer and... oh forget it!

  • You can have an automatic and wind it too. Believe me. And the comparison with the gearboxes is also wrong.

If you look at european cars, you can choose between automatic and semi automatic where the clutch is automatic an you are still able to choose the gear yourself.

  • Manual and Automatic are by all means different. It can't be the same-either you wind it yourself (manually) or it has a mechanism that winds it for you (automatically). They are both mechanical, that's not the issue. We're simply talking about the way the watch is wound. It's the same with cars guys-you either have a manual (stick), where you shift it yourself (manually) or you have an automatic where you put the car in gear and it shifts for you (automatically).

  • Where are you fom?If you're an American person you've a good taste for european style

  • Excellent review .. do you have any more Pans to review? also how wud u rate this compared to a 229?

  • @lonepantherkmt No... Both manual and automatic movements are mechanical. Automatic movements don't need to be hand wound, the movement of wearing the watch rotates a rotor which in turn winds a spring. Manual movements on the other hand have to be hand wound in order to wind the spring. They are different.

  • Oh no! That ugly magnifying bubble totally spoild the look of this watch! That's what put me off most Rolexes too.

  • @lonepantherkmt The term automatic refers to the automatic winding system of a mechanical movement (rolex calls their automatic movements "perpetual"). Manual wind and automatic movements are both mechanical, but a manual wind is not considered automatic because the main spring is not wound automatically.

  • @lonepantherkmt Incorrect my man. Automatic watches have rotors (automatic winding) and manual wind watches do not. They are both MECHANICAL watches, but they are not both AUTOMATIC watches.

  • @simplyseven007 ur wrong auto watches must be wound

  • I really really love this watch.

  • love this watch so so much, it cost so much in my country !

  • Are the numbers a little yellow because of the coating for nightime use?

  • this watch are amaizing. i am going to buy one for myself. i live in Beijing, China . the price for this in China a little higher than 6500. its about 9000. in the official butiuqe.where did you buy this one? ilaty? is there any way to book them?

  • I really can't see how Panerai watches are justified by their price.

For that amount ofmoney can you imagine how many solid gold watches you can buy?

  • nice watch. I love it

  • awsome watch

  • That watch looks great on your wrists!

  • Very nice watch, but the problem is its price. You are lucky Simplyseven007 :)

  • Very nice watch, but the problem is its price. You are lucky Simplyseven007 :)

  • apologies in advance for my opinion here, which seem to go against the grain, but this is one ugly and overpriced watch.

  • Can that strap go into the water without being a problem?

  • I am female & this is my 1st Panerai PAM00282 / 40mm case diameter. It arrived today from Jomashop and I was so excited getting the watch so cut off the tag where it said “disqualify to return if remove”. I then realized that it has the Brushed Titanium bezel. Also, the picture online showed the deeper blue then the watch itself. I am so disappointed with this brushed looking bezel rather than polished and the stale looking blue leather strap. I still don’t know how to use the strap yet :=(

  • You SO should have put the James Bond theme on at 4.47 of the video when you put the watch on your wrist. That would have been so cool haha. Oh and cool watch!

  • @ayd1nmo The craziest thing is after I posted this, I saw your name was actually 007! LOL. Coincidence...or was it?

  • phonetically the way you say it is pan -air-i .. my friend says it with an e at the end (pan-air-e).... i've been to lazy to actually do some research.... but all i know is that these watches are awesome (potato patato) lol ; )

  • ... dumb question but are you saying the name right? my friend says it differently ... kind of hard to explain in words what his pronunciation is

  • Well.... from feedback I've received from viewers that are more knowledgeable than myself, my pronunciations are not always correct. With that said, however, I am pretty dang sure I say Panerai correctly.

  • @simplyseven007 u pronounce it absolutely correctly!

  • @simplyseven007 He's saying it right. 90's a cool watch.....

  • @simplyseven007 Yes you do...just bought a Pam 90 today...and your video helped me decide..

  • @simplyseven007

Great watch. In speaking of pronunciation, "Panerai" is an italian word so, if you want to pronounce it correctly, you should pronounce the "a" (every one) like the "a" in the english word "start". Your pronunciation of "Panerai" is correct except for the first "a", that you pronounce like an english vowel. In other words, just pronounce the first "a" as the same as the second one, and it will be perfect!

  • @simplyseven007 Corect me if i am wrong, but this has an ETA movement and not a Panerai manufacture. If it had a manufacture movement I could almost justify the price.

  • Absolutely gorgeous watch mate. Congrats on the purchase.

  • lmaoo yeap a 44mm Panerai is awesome! but a 44mm invicta would look silly!!

  • "its really well put together"

lmao, for several K€ it can fucking be !!

  • nice

  • my favourite watch of all time. gona get one when im older.

  • I don't own one, but for those on a short budget like myself, I heard Military Marina Militare is a good homage? I also heard they can put in a Swiss Movement if one wants too.

  • sorry for the stupid question - but what does the Power Reserve actually indicate? Hours before it needs winding? But if is an automatic....

Could someone give me a quick rundown of what / how auto winding / power reserve etc mean / work. Thanks.

  • @Braithwaite78 yes the power reserve indicates when the watch needs widning, wether you hand wind it or wear it on the wrist, the watch can easliy be wound up just by wearing it

  • I don't have the resources to aim for a Patek, and besides they continue to cling to 37 and 39mm watches that just look tiny on most men's wrists; however, I do aspire to this watch....I have been following the company for awhile and they are, like all old family-owned, high end European watches, a bit quirky...unique in their own way - I like that. In particular I like this model in 44mm - I think it's a good standard size watch that won't become dated as watch sizes vary over the years.

  • Nicely done review.

  • Comment removed

  • a 45mm invicta silly? maybe the average invicta watch is cheap, but their 18K and platinum case and + power reserve & GMT watch is a superior watch

you can find zillions watches with that price range that have a better value: Paul Picot Technicum(as low as 5950$ new) or a zenith open chrono with power reserve.

even a seiko spring drive absolutely destroys this overrated watch

    -72h power reserve

-all the features of a automatic watch with almost no flaws

  • Panerai is a strong brand and it's here to stay. The following is crazy committed and blows every other brand out of the water

  • @dorapapi321 So does a casio quarts but how do you feel when you wear it and a guy turns up with a panerai. its jewellery for men so practicality has little to do with it no?

  • Very nice watch. How much does this watch go for new. I just bought the Monbrillant Legend and paid 6K for it.

    Max

  • $6,500.

  • @simplyseven007 2010 price list has it at $7,400

  • I have to say I dont get it. The watch is attractive and the power reserve is a nice feature but you dont seem to get alot for the price.

  • I agree. In my estimation, I believe most Panerai models to be 15%-25% overpriced.

  • Ya I could see paying $3500-$4500 but Iv seen some at $7000!! That kinda money in a Rolex or Breitling would at least get you 18kt gold links, or bezel. Good looking watch non the less

  • @simplyseven007 when you say 40mm or 44 mm is that the diameter of the watch itself? I have small wrist what would you recommend as far as sizing?

  • @ithicaplasma If you want a watch with a lot of functions buy a casio pathfinder, and save 6k.

  • @ithicaplasma It is because it is so sexy....

  • Great review and happy new year

  • same watch in the transpoter 2 movie ;)

  • FOR bracelet, Rolex. For strap, Panerai. I cant wait til i own both. i want the rolex gmt 2, and this beauty

  • dude u probably rich as fuck. it cost 20.000 $

  • The MSRP is around USD 7000, they have been increasing their prices steadily every year, so It'll probably go up a couple hundred in 2010.

  • How much did pay for that? and where?

  • werent they also made by rolex durring a time?

  • Yep, in the beginning.

  • Somehow, you are right. Panerai used Rolex movements for most of the time. I think it was in 1992 that they began using ETA movements. Nowadays, they built their own movements as well, but still use ETA movements for most of their watches.

  • Very nice. Thanks for the review. Im currently looking into this particular watch.

  • Beatiful machine, great watch!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • BTW is it possible to find a Luminor automatic with a sandwiched dial anyways? I've looked everywhere and I can't find one

  • 312 is a good way to start, but if you prefer dome crystal than go for the 270. You can rarely see these in store since they sold out fast, and Panerai only make around 35k watches a year compare to 800k from Rolex. Most AD has a waiting list up 2 years for some of the more popular models.

  • You go on Panerai site and you stay on "Manifattura". All manifattura paneari are luminor marina 1950 with sandwiched dials at various cost. For example the beautiful 1950 3 days automatic reserve cost about 4.900 euros.

  • I would like to see a 1950 on your sized wrist haha

  • nice watch PAM 90?

I was going to get that watch, but I changed my mind to a 312.... i don't like the Power reserve, nor the cyclops... and the 312 has the manuf movement from Panerai..

    Keep the great reviews coming!

  • Cool Watch

Check out Pierre Kunz Insanity video...

  • Heh I'm in the same boat as far as wrist size. About 6.75. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to get a Pam either, but then I just realized no ones going to think it looks that silly..people where all sorts of ridiculous clothing, so a big watch won't draw that much attention.

Plus I generally wear a jacket so it will only be visible from time to time.

  • By the lovely watch collection . Working on mine got my eye on a panerai pam 48 model. I saw in your lume comp a new iwc when r u doing a review on that one. Great review keep them coming.

  • what does oem mean?

  • original equipment manufacture

  • I love that watch

  • Absolutely beautiful watch, I am debating between this and a Cartier Santos.

  • Very nice, how much did that watch cost you.

  • These go for between 6M-8M USD.

  • I trust you mean 6-8K...

Unless this is, in fact, a 6 million dollar watch.

  • Actually 'M' is the Roman numeral for thousand. In banking and finance $6M = $6,000 and $6MM = $6,000,000.
