@lonepantherkmt No, not everything. You're off on your manual vs. automatic theory, but I'm not going to beat a dead horse. Your willful ignorance is dumbfounding; you couldn't accept the fact that you were wrong so you turn into a troll. Complete idiot.
Do you have any experience with Jaeger-Lecoultre ? I've been thinking of either purchasing a Panerai or JLC (most likely reverso). Just wondering if you could give me some input because it's been a real struggle to decide between the two brands. Anyways awesome video :)
@skadoodlez Panerai for sure, its a real man's watch. A classic look, sophisticated, yet powerful. Alot of attention from the ladies for sure... Alot more than other watches.
You can have an automatic and wind it too. Believe me. And the comparison with the gearboxes is also wrong.
If you look at european cars, you can choose between automatic and semi automatic where the clutch is automatic an you are still able to choose the gear yourself.
Manual and Automatic are by all means different. It can't be the same-either you wind it yourself (manually) or it has a mechanism that winds it for you (automatically). They are both mechanical, that's not the issue. We're simply talking about the way the watch is wound. It's the same with cars guys-you either have a manual (stick), where you shift it yourself (manually) or you have an automatic where you put the car in gear and it shifts for you (automatically).
@lonepantherkmt No... Both manual and automatic movements are mechanical. Automatic movements don't need to be hand wound, the movement of wearing the watch rotates a rotor which in turn winds a spring. Manual movements on the other hand have to be hand wound in order to wind the spring. They are different.
@lonepantherkmt The term automatic refers to the automatic winding system of a mechanical movement (rolex calls their automatic movements "perpetual"). Manual wind and automatic movements are both mechanical, but a manual wind is not considered automatic because the main spring is not wound automatically.
@lonepantherkmt Incorrect my man. Automatic watches have rotors (automatic winding) and manual wind watches do not. They are both MECHANICAL watches, but they are not both AUTOMATIC watches.
Manual wind watches are not automatics. Manual wind watches are "mechanical" watches, as opposed to quartz watches which are run by a battery, but they would not be confused with an auto. An automatic used a rotor that is turned by the wearer's movement to wind the watch which is why it is "automatically" wound.

this watch are amaizing. i am going to buy one for myself. i live in Beijing, China . the price for this in China a little higher than 6500. its about 9000. in the official butiuqe.where did you buy this one? ilaty? is there any way to book them?
I am female & this is my 1st Panerai PAM00282 / 40mm case diameter. It arrived today from Jomashop and I was so excited getting the watch so cut off the tag where it said “disqualify to return if remove”. I then realized that it has the Brushed Titanium bezel. Also, the picture online showed the deeper blue then the watch itself. I am so disappointed with this brushed looking bezel rather than polished and the stale looking blue leather strap. I still don’t know how to use the strap yet :=(
You SO should have put the James Bond theme on at 4.47 of the video when you put the watch on your wrist. That would have been so cool haha. Oh and cool watch!
phonetically the way you say it is pan -air-i .. my friend says it with an e at the end (pan-air-e).... i've been to lazy to actually do some research.... but all i know is that these watches are awesome (potato patato) lol ; )
Well.... from feedback I've received from viewers that are more knowledgeable than myself, my pronunciations are not always correct. With that said, however, I am pretty dang sure I say Panerai correctly.
Great watch. In speaking of pronunciation, "Panerai" is an italian word so, if you want to pronounce it correctly, you should pronounce the "a" (every one) like the "a" in the english word "start". Your pronunciation of "Panerai" is correct except for the first "a", that you pronounce like an english vowel. In other words, just pronounce the first "a" as the same as the second one, and it will be perfect!
@simplyseven007 Corect me if i am wrong, but this has an ETA movement and not a Panerai manufacture. If it had a manufacture movement I could almost justify the price.
I don't own one, but for those on a short budget like myself, I heard Military Marina Militare is a good homage? I also heard they can put in a Swiss Movement if one wants too.
@Braithwaite78 yes the power reserve indicates when the watch needs widning, wether you hand wind it or wear it on the wrist, the watch can easliy be wound up just by wearing it
I don't have the resources to aim for a Patek, and besides they continue to cling to 37 and 39mm watches that just look tiny on most men's wrists; however, I do aspire to this watch....I have been following the company for awhile and they are, like all old family-owned, high end European watches, a bit quirky...unique in their own way - I like that. In particular I like this model in 44mm - I think it's a good standard size watch that won't become dated as watch sizes vary over the years.
a 45mm invicta silly? maybe the average invicta watch is cheap, but their 18K and platinum case and + power reserve & GMT watch is a superior watch
you can find zillions watches with that price range that have a better value: Paul Picot Technicum(as low as 5950$ new) or a zenith open chrono with power reserve.
even a seiko spring drive absolutely destroys this overrated watch
-72h power reserve
-all the features of a automatic watch with almost no flaws
@dorapapi321 So does a casio quarts but how do you feel when you wear it and a guy turns up with a panerai. its jewellery for men so practicality has little to do with it no?
Ya I could see paying $3500-$4500 but Iv seen some at $7000!! That kinda money in a Rolex or Breitling would at least get you 18kt gold links, or bezel. Good looking watch non the less
Somehow, you are right. Panerai used Rolex movements for most of the time. I think it was in 1992 that they began using ETA movements. Nowadays, they built their own movements as well, but still use ETA movements for most of their watches.
312 is a good way to start, but if you prefer dome crystal than go for the 270. You can rarely see these in store since they sold out fast, and Panerai only make around 35k watches a year compare to 800k from Rolex. Most AD has a waiting list up 2 years for some of the more popular models.
You go on Panerai site and you stay on "Manifattura". All manifattura paneari are luminor marina 1950 with sandwiched dials at various cost. For example the beautiful 1950 3 days automatic reserve cost about 4.900 euros.
I was going to get that watch, but I changed my mind to a 312.... i don't like the Power reserve, nor the cyclops... and the 312 has the manuf movement from Panerai..
Heh I'm in the same boat as far as wrist size. About 6.75. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to get a Pam either, but then I just realized no ones going to think it looks that silly..people where all sorts of ridiculous clothing, so a big watch won't draw that much attention.
Plus I generally wear a jacket so it will only be visible from time to time.
