It doesn't matter if it has a purpose or not and if you wanted to be an ass about it you could state that the purpose of the machine is the final function of it, i.e. to send a marble down a ramp, to knock over a row of dominoes, or as in this machine, to turn on an RC airplane. Anything that's setup in this kind of fashion can be considered a Rube Goldberg apparatus.

Hey it's Yoshirule (this is my channel for things other than Rube Goldberg). The design wasn't thought out in advance in any way, I just started with a step and added on from there. Also, sometimes unexpected things would happen when I would mess around with the parts, and I'd find a way to incorporate it into the machine.

As said in the description, it took hours just to get this one to work! Makes the bigger ones even more impressive actually.
