Aw, no one seems to like Celia in this. I personally think she did a brilliant job; even if you don't like her voice, just look at her acting. She's embodying the Aminta character for the scene, but there are parts when her Christine drops out if character because she's realizing that something isn't quite right with her Passarino. Her expressions are spot on, and she really captures the sexual undertones of this opera. She's one of my favourites.
Fun fact: If you go on An Lamentable Mess and click the United Kingdom and scroll down... you'll find that once JOJ screamed "Noooo! No! F**k! God****it! You lying… B***H!" at the part where she unmasks him... there is even audio!! :)
I saw her in LND after the third set of changes and for the first time I thought it could proudly call itself a worthy sequel. Celia wasn't as dramatic as Sierra but that made it more touching.
On a different note, I like her in the video well enough but I never understand why some Christines put the ring on voluntarily. It seems a strange thing to do then unmask him... when I've seen it, the Phantom almost forces the ring on her finger...
im SOOO sad she's playing christine in love never dies :( im going to see it in august and i was so excited... and then i found out it was HER. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@xpoppyloupeanutx You should really give her a chance. She's amazing live, and her "Love Never Dies" at the end is simply beautiful. And trust me - I don't like her in Phantom. Plus, she's so sweet. I met her at the backstage door.
@xpoppyloupeanutx Her diction is far better than Sierra's, especially in the high notes... And I just love the way she's all motherly with Gustave. Better than Sierra, in my opinion.
@Belliole i totally agree :) when she sang the high notes in "love Never Dies" i actually understood what she said, when i listened to sierra on the soundtrack, it was just like "UGGH!! LOUD (but pretty) WHITE NOISE!! WHERE ARE THE WORDS???". but they're both good. I think Sierra is better at bringing out the fact that christine becomes emptier after "phantom", but she loses the motherliness, which Celia is good at.
God, I DESPISE Celia. In my opinion she is just AWFUL. Her voice sounds like a sqeaky chipmunk, and her acting is just bizare. JOJ is fabulous though. Love his voice!
@xxKYLiEEEox8 Agreed. I was kind of thinking, "Erik are you sure you want this one?" But John Cudia is, as always, wonderful, vulnerable, but sexy Phantom.
I love JOJ as the Phantom and he is amazing in this. I'm not so sure of Celia however...i don't know she's an amazing singer but i don't really see her as Christine........i'm probably gonna get hate for this but that's what i think :)
wait why does she get all freaked out at 5:26 when she was practically smothering him for the past 30 seconds? did she think it was piangi? and if she did how did she realize it was erik? thanks
@tensandtens At first she really did think it was Piangi.... but when she felt the right side of the Phantom's hood, she could feel the mask underneath, confirming that she was singing with the Phantom this whole time. Subtle, no?
John Owen-Jones is absolutely INCREDIBLE in this scene. When I watched him sing "The Point of No Return," even though I knew it was the Phantom under that cloak, there were times I second-guessed myself because he sounded so much like Piangi!
Mr. Owen-Jones' singing voice is superb. Fitting for the role of the Phantom. His acting's also good -- I especially love his reaction to Christine unmasking him. Very well-done.
I like Sierra/don't have anything against her, but LND could really have just been swept under the rug.......teehee..........RUG..........but anyway, LND is a really overdramatic musical, so we'll see what happens with Celia Mouse

With all due respect to the show and blah blah blah......
@justliveit05 He is imitating Ubaldo Piangi in this scene (the one he just murdered behind the curtain), including the actor's mannerisms and voice inflections (Italian).
JOJ has played the Phantom over 1500 times!
