Minecraft - How to farm Obsidian (not losing it to lava underneath)

best way to get obsidian for me

get at the same level or below the obsidian with lava underneath , take cobblestone and place it straight under the obsidian ... it works , just try it , then when you harvest theres no lava underneath

This is the method I use in my own obsidian mine. It is painfully slow, boring, and laborious, but it does work, and it's the only way I've found to do it safely. It's a good method.

@Riorach Keep in mind that farming has a slightly different meaning in minecraft than that of other mmo's. Farming pork, according to other mmo's would mean to go out, find a nice pig spawn point and kill as many as you can and haul the drops back home.

In Minecraft a resource farm is applied exclusively to renewable resources. such as wheat, wood and mobs. The objective being to create the same resource continously and retrieve it in the most efficient manner.

I wouldn't call this farming. This is simply prolonging the life of the lava so you can get more resources out of it.

But nonetheless that is a good way of getting obsidian nice work man. :)
