According to Pakistan Govt the literacy rate in Pakistan is about 43%.Men about 56% & Woman about 33%.However this figure is exagurated.Realistically only 20% of Pakistan r Literate the rest r Illiterate.According to UN most of the pak govt estimation is madrasa edctn..where thy dont teach Eng/Math/Sci etc..
Literacy rate in India is 75%.Men around 80%,woman 70%.By 2017 Indian Lieteracy will B 100%.In kerala Literacy is 100% where thy can read/write 2 languages + more.Pak is Failng.

Finally chickens come home to roost. Muslim-on-muslim violence: what an irony that muslims created a nation in fear of Hindus and now they fear their own kind. Just think of massacre in East Pakistan, Karachi, Balochistan, Quetta, Miranshah, Malmand etc, not to mention their misadventure in Kashmir and Afghanistan, all in the name of religion and peaceful Islam.

In all fairness, I will never learn to read or write Urdu, the characters seems to complex to be worth the effort. What is the definition of "literate" in Pakistan?

This is a problem in sub-continent. Even in India. However, at least the level of education is far higher in India.

@ashishbehera1982 The illiterate ones are the Muslims. They bring the literacy level low. If they all left India like they were supposed to then India would have 90% literacy rate.
