this is still my favorite live performance ever of this song. straight up with no flashy intro and the tempo is just great. ( a little faster than CD version )
this guy is a genius, the hair, the glasses, unique in a lifetime. well thanx to kurt for using the same hair cut and same glasses years before this guy. nobody do stuff like this anymore.
@123legodude, ever heard of metallica, guns n roses, pink floyd, or any other music legends? Im not denying that weazer is a good band, but there are much better ones out there.
no word can express the amazing music weezer puts out. theres no word powerful enough to express the level of awesomeness. it would have to be like super-omega-supreme-sowesomeness
1993/4 This song is that old!? I first heard it in the late 90's early naughtys, where I thought it WAS realeased. Chirst this song came out when Nirvana was in the charts.
Tha explains why the guitar solo is so good. Rock songs are shit today!
holy shit! brian looks like that dude that shreds on guitar from radiohead..then again, he looks like thom yorke from radiohead with a short hairdo..then again, he looks like george harrison. Yeah i have no fucking idea.
i really like both matt sharp and scott shriner, but does anyone else question their actual skill playing bass? ive been playing bass for about 2 months and im still a beginer, but i have yet to find a weezer song that i cant play
@rechedelphar Weezer bass lines are super easy and basic. If you want more intricate bass lines look up some songs from Dookie by Green Day (particularly Sassafras Roots).
@dude995 Pinkertons basslines arent hard, but they are complex and up there, (Pinkerton and Maladroit are the only albums that have more intermediate basslines)
there playing it so fast.... this performance is pretty sloppy..... they really don't have an excuse cuz a person whos only played for a month or two could play any weezer song...
there playing it so fast.... this performance is pretty sloppy..... they really don't have an excuse cuz a person whos only played for a month or two could play any weezer song...
It's ironic that all the time I'm watching this, I'm thinking "I need to be like Rivers so I can get laid". Ladies, we're finally getting to the point where you have to be a nerd like us to get ass. Buddy Holly is their best song, because it's like "Hey, I'm the nerdiest guy ever. And you're a beautiful woman. We're together because I'm extremely talented. Our channel is named after Weezer, as you can see. Our first vlog is up. Check it out.
It's a shame they are nowhere near as good now. They were so much tighter and full of passion back then. I've seen these guys three times in 10 years and each show has been worse. I stopped going after the black album tour (Make Believe). My God, they ended the show with "Hashpipe", and it should have fucking blown the room off the place, but instead it was soooo sugary and wimp-ass. When "We Are All on Drugs" is the cutting edge song of the night, it's time for Weezer to hang up the guitars.
I agree.I don't know about seeing them live but after their first album, which was killer, they have only had two or three decent songs. I gave up on them after the album that has the song "Beverly Hills" on it.Besides that one song the rest of the album is unlistenable
A lot of people say that they sound the same on cd and live but I disagree. This song on cd is no where near the level of the live versions. The cd version seems more mellow and almost soft pop. The versions sound fierce and explosive. From the drums to the guitars, it all sounds much heavier and brutal, A F*cking PLUS for both versions! PS. Matt rules!
Correction: The "live" versions sound fierce and explosive.
Also, I believe this is from 120 mins. This and the Sweater song were played that night. The Sweater Song made it on the 120 mins live cd (which freaking rules!). I wish they could have put both songs on it.
Even though they were teenagers when they wrote this stuff it stikk had emotion and this is more credable then any kinda credibility out there its for a band like this to pee on the ground and claim their territory like a wild animal.... so it's not really bad for them to act like teenagers lol
Except as Rivers grew older, the music became more immature and perfect for teenagers. The Blue Album and Pinkerton had a lot of emotional depth to them, especially the latter. Everything after felt either dull, incredibly immature, too manufactured, or just plain bizarre. The Weezer of the 90s is dead, but there are some glimmers here and there.
there is a lot of truth to your statement man. the blue album is absolutely one of the best albums ever and pinkerton was great too. after that i would say they have gone downhill album by album eventhough some of their new stuff is alright. it just seems to me that they are more about pop rather than emotional relevance and it kills me to say that because they are probably my second favorite band ever. i don't think that matt sharpe leaving and the albums going downhil was a coincidence.
I think the music industry/fame destroyed Weezer/Rivers Cuomo. I mean, look at this guy during this period. He clearly doesn't give a fuck about being "cool;" He's just a dude who happens to be a phenomenal musician. And, even if he was trying to be cool, it was cool according to him.I truly feel that people criticized him to the point that he changed himself and his music to feel accepted by the masses. When I see the guy now, it doesn't even seem like the Weezer of the 90's even existed.
or maybe he grew up a little bit, would it still be cool to act like a teenager when you are almost 40, people change when they grow older, the music idustry does change then they change themselves
