  • this guy is a genius, the hair, the glasses, unique in a lifetime. well thanx to kurt for using the same hair cut and same glasses years before this guy. nobody do stuff like this anymore.

  • WEEZER IS GREAT.

  • Wow rivers was the man.

  • Matt Sharp is the Bill Murray of bass players...

  • @andmaketherain flea too

  • 1:28 that's some sick strumming

  • soooo much better at this pace

  • @123legodude, ever heard of metallica, guns n roses, pink floyd, or any other music legends? Im not denying that weazer is a good band, but there are much better ones out there.

  • nice hair

  • no word can express the amazing music weezer puts out. theres no word powerful enough to express the level of awesomeness. it would have to be like super-omega-supreme-sowesomeness

  • 1993/4 This song is that old!? I first heard it in the late 90's early naughtys, where I thought it WAS realeased. Chirst this song came out when Nirvana was in the charts.

Tha explains why the guitar solo is so good. Rock songs are shit today!

    Rock R.I.P. 1994

  • I'm extreamly attracted to the singer!

    :D is that wierd?!

  • @NikiGore I'm a straight man and I am too. It's normal. xD

  • this must be a fake video, mtv doesnt show music.

  • @GreenJanuary

no fake... this was in 1994 or'95. this was when MTV played real music

  • @carlo76adsl i know i was just kidding, i really hate MTV now

  • @GreenJanuary 17 years ago they did

  • I found the first 10 seconds of this video amusing.

  • wow, i totally didn't recognize him with all that hair

  • Weezer Buddy Holly Live ( fast version )

  • I second that, cuz every time I come down there I want to hit my radio its so bad

  • I wish I could see Weezer live in my lifetime

  • holy shit! brian looks like that dude that shreds on guitar from radiohead..then again, he looks like thom yorke from radiohead with a short hairdo..then again, he looks like george harrison. Yeah i have no fucking idea.

  • most boss bowl cut ever

  • i really like both matt sharp and scott shriner, but does anyone else question their actual skill playing bass? ive been playing bass for about 2 months and im still a beginer, but i have yet to find a weezer song that i cant play

  • @rechedelphar Weezer bass lines are super easy and basic. If you want more intricate bass lines look up some songs from Dookie by Green Day (particularly Sassafras Roots).

  • @dude995 or anything by Rush

  • @dude995 Pinkertons basslines arent hard, but they are complex and up there, (Pinkerton and Maladroit are the only albums that have more intermediate basslines)

  • @rechedelphar They could still play the simplest riffs, but still have talent, they just choose to play simple.

  • omg, rivers had long hair? John Sebastian-esque hippy hair?

  • sadly nerd rock has turned into nerd metal

  • Nerd rock needs to make a comeback!

  • Loooool Rivers xD

  • amo esta cancion

  • i appreciate how raggedy pat is in this vid. the ridiculous bass stomping in the bridge is awesome.

  • mushroom hair hahahaha

  • its awesome how fast it is

  • the 90's <3

  • @subthis When MTV played real music and Jersey Shore didn't exist.

  • What awful time keeping by Patrick wilson. Geez

  • what year is this? is 1994?

  • nice bowl cut rivers

  • BOWLCUT!

  • Really fast :P But I can play it faster ^^

  • there playing it so fast.... this performance is pretty sloppy..... they really don't have an excuse cuz a person whos only played for a month or two could play any weezer song...

  • @RyLeeKing time constraints ..

  • @RyLeeKing Yeah but just try to match their style/attitude lol

  • rivers' hair is SOOO awesome! :D

  • awesum song

  • strangley matt isnt being goofy

  • Shame how much they've regressed over the years...

  • keep it real - weezer fckn rocks!!!

  • BOWL CUT LOL

  • at their peak here

  • i wish weezer still sounded like weezer.

  • I think all his talent resided in the bowl cut. Once that left, well, you have ears.

  • aahahaha that haircut!! fricken awesome

  • Rivers looks like a thin version of the son from the show HUNG.

    lol

  • They look awesome! :)

  • speedy live version

  • It's ironic that all the time I'm watching this, I'm thinking "I need to be like Rivers so I can get laid". Ladies, we're finally getting to the point where you have to be a nerd like us to get ass. Buddy Holly is their best song, because it's like "Hey, I'm the nerdiest guy ever. And you're a beautiful woman. We're together because I'm extremely talented. Our channel is named after Weezer, as you can see. Our first vlog is up. Check it out.

  • Real Music on MTV..... this must be old.....

  • @guitarsrcool17 and that was mtv2. They cant deal with one today.

  • @guitarsrcool17 lmao i know really, it's sad but so very true.

  • @guitarsrcool17

    it's true

  • @guitarsrcool17

it's true, but they were playing at letterman

  • @guitarsrcool17 this isnt that old. this was from 1994.

  • @guitarsrcool17 mtv launched weezers career. thats about it

  • @guitarsrcool17 Music on MTV.... this must be old...

  • hahah dude rivers looks like a little boy but its awesome

  • @brenhouse same thing i was thinking!

  • he look like kurt cobain...

  • I saw this song on a DVD, and just loved the guitar, plus i love Happy Days

  • @hellhero12345

well you have to sing averagely at least and play guitar which he does pretty well but you also have t write the songs to play and sing

  • Pudding bowl + horn rim glasses...looking at Rivers it's hard to imagine they were ever deemed "uncool".

  • Rivers looks like nerdy-brown-haired-Pablo Honey-Era-Thom Yorke

  • Rivers is just a prolific songwriter

  • Was this a rehearsal performance?

  • wow just wow

  • dude the end of the solo is amazing. they messed up but i still got goose bumps

  • anyone know what kind of sg that is

  • @tdawg0993 gibson melody maker sg

  • Does anyone else wonder if drugs are what "got" to Rivers Cuomo.

  • i dont think so

  • This just makes me happy. It's so pure. What a talent Rivers Cuomo is (was).

  • weezer rock, like in an orgasm way for me

  • the singer reminds me so much of Kurt cobain

  • @flesongo

Silly flesongo, Rivers Cuomo never blew his brains out with a shotgun!

He probably should have, though. Their latest stuff is horrible.

  • @toddrensch

not really u have to look for the good songs

island in the sun, why bother, etc.

  • Roof -- blown the roof off the place lol. Sorry.

  • It's a shame they are nowhere near as good now. They were so much tighter and full of passion back then. I've seen these guys three times in 10 years and each show has been worse. I stopped going after the black album tour (Make Believe). My God, they ended the show with "Hashpipe", and it should have fucking blown the room off the place, but instead it was soooo sugary and wimp-ass. When "We Are All on Drugs" is the cutting edge song of the night, it's time for Weezer to hang up the guitars.

  • I agree.I don't know about seeing them live but after their first album, which was killer, they have only had two or three decent songs. I gave up on them after the album that has the song "Beverly Hills" on it.Besides that one song the rest of the album is unlistenable

  • @RavishingBeyond and its time for you to get a job.

  • they have succumb to the dark side, my friend.

  • Goddamn!!!! is it 1994 all over again??!?!?

  • Rivers looks like a totally different person without that haircut and glasses.

  • as in better or worse?

  • Ooh wee ooh i look like elvis fucking presley!

  • like the live punk vibe

  • hahaha pat doesnt know what todo in the begining wen the cams on him hahaha jk jk

  • yeah they dont sound the same on the CD's to me its not as tight but the other thing is thats wut makes their live performances so raw.

  • A lot of people say that they sound the same on cd and live but I disagree. This song on cd is no where near the level of the live versions. The cd version seems more mellow and almost soft pop. The versions sound fierce and explosive. From the drums to the guitars, it all sounds much heavier and brutal, A F*cking PLUS for both versions! PS. Matt rules!

  • @ColorsBright

Correction: The "live" versions sound fierce and explosive.

Also, I believe this is from 120 mins. This and the Sweater song were played that night. The Sweater Song made it on the 120 mins live cd (which freaking rules!). I wish they could have put both songs on it.

  • what year was this? 94?

  • Comment removed

  • sweet ass bowl cut. but man i like the tempo

  • my god I love they nerdy look

  • the very end of the video is blink 182

  • Classic Weezer, love this performance, raw and original

  • matt sharp?!?!?! i miss him

  • Brian looks an awful lot like Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand in this vid :s

  • i really like the added "woah" during the last chorus.

  • this was the best form of weezer: nerd rock

  • rivers haircut looks like the girl from ghostbusters haha

  • Yeah... Janine...

  • why doesn't anyone applause at the end?..

  • There was no applause because there was no audience.

  • Kickass. Rivers looks beyond cool in this vid, and I'm not even joking. Plus this performance and this song fuckin rock.

Seriously, he looks soo cool, completely I don't give a fuck. It's awesome.

  • thanks for posting this, it's a killer performance!

  • i need to show them my poon

  • brian looks like spock

  • @hagenb85 hahahaha

  • @hagenb85 omfg... haven't laughed this much for like a month

  • Alright this is how it is...

Even though they were teenagers when they wrote this stuff it stikk had emotion and this is more credable then any kinda credibility out there its for a band like this to pee on the ground and claim their territory like a wild animal.... so it's not really bad for them to act like teenagers lol

  • Except as Rivers grew older, the music became more immature and perfect for teenagers. The Blue Album and Pinkerton had a lot of emotional depth to them, especially the latter. Everything after felt either dull, incredibly immature, too manufactured, or just plain bizarre. The Weezer of the 90s is dead, but there are some glimmers here and there.

  • there is a lot of truth to your statement man. the blue album is absolutely one of the best albums ever and pinkerton was great too. after that i would say they have gone downhill album by album eventhough some of their new stuff is alright. it just seems to me that they are more about pop rather than emotional relevance and it kills me to say that because they are probably my second favorite band ever. i don't think that matt sharpe leaving and the albums going downhil was a coincidence.

  • I think the music industry/fame destroyed Weezer/Rivers Cuomo. I mean, look at this guy during this period. He clearly doesn't give a fuck about being "cool;" He's just a dude who happens to be a phenomenal musician. And, even if he was trying to be cool, it was cool according to him.I truly feel that people criticized him to the point that he changed himself and his music to feel accepted by the masses. When I see the guy now, it doesn't even seem like the Weezer of the 90's even existed.

  • ur totally right

  • or maybe he grew up a little bit, would it still be cool to act like a teenager when you are almost 40, people change when they grow older, the music idustry does change then they change themselves

  • That happy days scenery was just for the Buddy Holly music video.

  • fail.

  • wtf with his hair ROFLMAO

  • One of the few bands that sound the same on stage and on cd's.

  • This is Kurt Cobain-era Rivers, with the low-slung guitar and near vertical fretboard. Next came Agent Smith era, in the suit and shades, circa 2002, and then it was the Richard Simmons era with the red jumpsuit that he wore every single show of the tour circa 2008/2009.

  • i like this rivers best.

  • Me too. He's all metal. It's cool. Rivers Simmons i
