When I was very young, in the early and mid- sixties, Catholic Mass was in transition from Latin to English. I have to admit that I paid more attention to Latin. This is a beautiful version of a song that has been played at nearly every church wedding and funeral that I've ever attended; also, was played at home (in addition to polka music) when my parents were feeling nostalgic. I was listening to Josh Groban's rendition of Ava Maria..and I immediately recalled Perry Como's Italian version. This guy was a barber..as in he cut hair..and he sang..and man...listen to this man sing..he is praying not singing...i bet tears were running down his cheeks as he sang this song.this man was Blessed with not only a smooth voice n a heart that knew the notes he sang. INCREDIBLE.
