Actually there is some relevance to this comment. I have heard some versions of Gospel John where the trumpet cadenza in the beginning makes reference to "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" which is the song that this man is playing.
Having done this kind of thing (minus the CDs) on the street in Mobile, AL, I can tell you it has its own rewards, not necessarily monetary. I played in front of an art gallery for three hours. Picked up only around 65 bucks in tips ($50 from one source!), but had a grand time hearing my horn echoing up and down the street, jamming with a guitarist across the street, laughing it up with the tourists. Don't knock it!
@waldoman7 This was about 5 days before Mardi Gras. We'd visited an art gallery, spent a couple of hours talking, and it ended with the gallery owner inviting me to sit outside and play the night of their monthly new-art opening. Just a fluke I'm sure, but there was someone playing guitar on the sidewalk, right up the block from me.
$3000 of pure beauty. I am a freshman in high school an I just got a strad 43. I LOVE it!

He's cheesy, but has talent. He could do so much more with that talent than try to sell cds on the street.
