hey scooby i was just wondering, i've been bodybuilding for about a year now and in that time my metabolism has gone thru the roof!. I was reading on your website that for a 160 pond guy like me should be eating 310 calorie meals with 26g of protein and i said yikes, this afternoon i had a full rack of ribs with fries,corn and a but load of veggies and 3 hours later i was already starving lol, is this bad?
eating healthy makes me feel good. it makes me feel fit just like when im weight lifting. i feel alot better when i choose water over soda or salad instead of a cheeseburger

do leg exercises? duh? Squats for you're quads, running and calf raises for your calfs, good mornings for you're hamstrings. There's a complete leg work out for you! If you don't know how to do these scooby has video demonstrations of this exercise..

No, if you do higher reps you won't get anymore cut than if you did heavier weights. Your muscles simple respond to the stress they are provided with and grow. If you want to be defined and cut, your bodyfat level has to be low enough.

Hey kashman92, dont get hung up on numbers. You can lift what you can lift, doesn matter if you bench 135 or 315. What IS important is to use good form, push yourself to the limit, and to make constant and slow progress. Next month you should be doing more reps (or more weight) than you did this month, if not, then you need to completely mix up your workout.

hey Scooby ive began cardio with a jump rope and my feet are killing me.. is this normal? and if i eat 3 small meals each day and do a cardio of 30-40min would i loose weight faster?
yan268: It's not normal- don't ignore it or it'll get worse. I had pain in my feet when exercising w/o shoes (Aikido mostly) and I thought it was just my feet being sensitive to the hard floor, and thought it'd get better, it got worse and got pretty crippling in the end. Much improved since I lost some weight, but better not to let it happen. It might be that you need to build up gradually to doing higher impact activity, make sure you have good supportive shoes and see a Dr if it continues.

Hugh Jackman is a beast! Also Tobe Mcguire got huge for his role in spiderman. They have all the money to pay for the greatest trainers, nutritionists, chefs and doctors money can buy. Also I wouldn't be surprised if they were on the juice, your recovery time is greatly enhanced when juicing.
Also scooby, can I ask you how many times should I do the superset in the "killer home chest workout" vid? And I do believe you are not on roids, it tells how you you were able to get such a great body in a VERY long period of time while (no disrespect to them either though) the Schwarzeneggers and the Colemans got theirs in several years.
How much protein is TOO much protein? I've heard people that say you actually don't need much at all...and i've heard people that say eat lots and lots and lots. What formula do you recommend?
The studies I know recommend 1.12 - 1.6 g per kg of bodyweight (read, for example, Tarnopolsky et al., "Influence of protein intake and training status on nitrogen balance and lean body mass", Journal of Applied Physiology, Vol 64, Issue 1 187-193). Bodybulders actually need less protein than endurance athletes.
More than 2 g per kg of bodyweight will do nothing, just end up as fat on your body. Even worse, massive amounts can damage your kidneys.
is there ne point working out if i can only get 3 hours of good sleep.?This isnt due to work or anything just i have trouble sleeping. If i drink lots of water and have good nutrition and a good workout plan ( like ur ones ) can i still make good gains?
Hey zestibar, I sympathize. If you have trouble sleeping, then I think exercise is even MORE impt for you - esp cardio. Try getting an hour of cardio early in the day, say before 2pm. That might help you sleep. Same with the weights. With 3hrs sleep your recovery will be hindered but you will still get benefits both physical and mental. Give it a try!

The app is cool but i doubt i would be able to enter every calorie i consume accurately. I eat a lot of homemade food so how would i enter some chili for example? Do i have to count each individual bean i eat?

Hey italiombiano, make sure to take good "before" pictures so you can have a good comparison to your most excellent "after" ones! Some people send me great after pictures but the before ones are so bad that you cant get the benefit of knowing how far they progressed. im a beginner strength trainer ive been lifting for 2 months and have added 30 pounds to my bench max from 85 to 115, i have been stuck trying to get 120 for 5 weeks because my shoulder gives out on the right and i drop the bar when my elbo gets to a 90 degree angle with my bicep, is there a way to continue building chest and arm muscle to maintain and increase my max while not actually benching? please reply with opinion

I just watched 3 of your videos about how to do flies. And i am pretty sure, that i am doing it right. I am doing with stretched arms. But i can't really feel it in my chest, instead i can feel it on the inner side of my biceps.
If you are a beginner it is not uncommon to feel the exercise in muscles that aren't actually its target - the biceps brachii acts as a synergist and stabilizer during flyes.
no expert here, but just my own opinion yes u can. but drinking will make it alot harder to lose the weight or achieve your goals. again im no expert just my opinion
That depends. Alcoholic beverages contain loads of calories. Even if you watch your nutrition the whole week, one night out with enough liquor and beer and it was in vain.
It also takes the body some time and effort to get the alcohol out of your system, even when you consciously don't feel the effects anymore.
In short: Drink in moderation and only when you don't plan to work out the next couple of days.
by the way..if you want to loose weight do as scooby says 1 pound/week or else you'll also burn muscles. And believe me putting your muscles back on requires way more effort than loosing weight :(

Believe me it's not. It's IMPOSSIBLE to get asymmetric abdominals using exercises. Your six pack will be the same from the moment they are formed to the end... You can train one side more, but you can't do anything else...
Me and my friends play dodge ball with medicine balls. This really tires you out quickly and you'll feel it in your shoulders and arms the next day. It's also good for cardio and response time, especially when you're dealing with fairly heavy projectiles.

when i saw this video i decided i would try your challenge. i've always been in good shape and have had a flat stomach, just some body fat over the abs ha. im 5' 11" and my starting weight was 180 and im already down to 175. i changed the way i eat completely and im getting more cardio and im working out a little harder. i already see some results and hopefully i'll have a nice core before july 4th!!

Should i mostly do weights and save calisthetics for warmups? I would like to increase my muscle mass and keep it maintained. As is i can do (3 sets / 3 reps) 50 pushups, 20-25 pullups and 50+ dips as my standard workout.
Should i cut down on calisthetics and just go straight into weights? Also, i have the metabolism of cheetah. I eat and eat and remain thin.

He has great videos about nutrition, however if you have fast mentabolism you can do both, gaining a sixpack however goes much faster if you have a nice mix, nuts are great for protein if you dont want to use powder.
I personally use protein powder and also self made protein shakes (1or2 banana's 2 eggs a bit honey to take away egg taste and to sweeten it, vitamine powder instead of sugar + milk) this has already more than 1000 calories so just watch out that you dont end up eating 3000+
i saw ur channel about 1 month ago and i have been doing only cardio cuz i spend like more than half of the day at work and sleep 5-6 hours a day. I m 173cm and 75kg now i have been doing jump rope and jogging.
At first i have never ever done jump rope before so i had a hard time at the begining i stucked a lot my calves hurt a lot i think one day i pushed so hard with anger cuz i wasnt skipping like other guys in vids. so i wasnt able to walk properly for 3 days :D

xXxThrasherxXx360: Scooby has plenty of chest exercise videos, the serratus anterior, on the side of the upper ribs, acts as a fixator when performing pushups and incline dumbell press for example. Its main function is to hold your shoulder blades in position whilst you do the exercise- you can see when people aren't contracting these muscles in a push up when they have bad form and they cave in between the shoulder blades.

hi im 15 and already have a 6 pack, but its not well defined. I weigh 120lbs (5'5) and i do a decent amount of cardio, but have horrible nutrition. I don't really want to lose weight (or not that much), but i want to gain weight and make it more defined. I work out alot on my abs, but i know it only gets u muscle and doesnt help you lose fat, so I am willing to correct my nutrition and do more cardio. However, I have trouble trying to make up meals due to calorie limits, anyone have any ideas?

How much protein is TOO much protein? I've heard people that say you actually don't need much at all...and i've heard people that say eat lots and lots and lots. What formula do you recommend?

The studies I know recommend 1.12 - 1.6 g per kg of bodyweight (read, for example, Tarnopolsky et al., "Influence of protein intake and training status on nitrogen balance and lean body mass", Journal of Applied Physiology, Vol 64, Issue 1 187-193). Bodybulders actually need less protein than endurance athletes.
More than 2 g per kg of bodyweight will do nothing, just end up as fat on your body. Even worse, massive amounts can damage your kidneys.

Hey zestibar, I sympathize. If you have trouble sleeping, then I think exercise is even MORE impt for you - esp cardio. Try getting an hour of cardio early in the day, say before 2pm. That might help you sleep. Same with the weights. With 3hrs sleep your recovery will be hindered but you will still get benefits both physical and mental. Give it a try!

Hey italiombiano, make sure to take good "before" pictures so you can have a good comparison to your most excellent "after" ones! Some people send me great after pictures but the before ones are so bad that you cant get the benefit of knowing how far they progressed. Its natural not to want of yourself being out of shape but its all the more motivation to change it!

ur not suppose to workout 5 times a week....thats gona cause the hormone cortisol to raise. what about CNS recovery and DOMS. its better to work 3 times a week.

im a beginner strength trainer ive been lifting for 2 months and have added 30 pounds to my bench max from 85 to 115, i have been stuck trying to get 120 for 5 weeks because my shoulder gives out on the right and i drop the bar when my elbo gets to a 90 degree angle with my bicep, is there a way to continue building chest and arm muscle to maintain and increase my max while not actually benching? please reply with opinion

IMHO you have upped the weight too fast. But as a beginner you should do whole body workouts, anyway.

If you are a beginner it is not uncommon to feel the exercise in muscles that aren't actually its target - the biceps brachii acts as a synergist and stabilizer during flyes.

That depends. Alcoholic beverages contain loads of calories. Even if you watch your nutrition the whole week, one night out with enough liquor and beer and it was in vain.
It also takes the body some time and effort to get the alcohol out of your system, even when you consciously don't feel the effects anymore.
In short: Drink in moderation and only when you don't plan to work out the next couple of days.

Believe me it's not. It's IMPOSSIBLE to get asymmetric abdominals using exercises. Your six pack will be the same from the moment they are formed to the end... You can train one side more, but you can't do anything else...

Me and my friends play dodge ball with medicine balls. This really tires you out quickly and you'll feel it in your shoulders and arms the next day. It's also good for cardio and response time, especially when you're dealing with fairly heavy projectiles.

when i saw this video i decided i would try your challenge. i've always been in good shape and have had a flat stomach, just some body fat over the abs ha. im 5' 11" and my starting weight was 180 and im already down to 175. i changed the way i eat completely and im getting more cardio and im working out a little harder. i already see some results and hopefully i'll have a nice core before july 4th!!

Hi. I weigh roughly 150 and 5'10 in height.
Should i mostly do weights and save calisthetics for warmups? I would like to increase my muscle mass and keep it maintained. As is i can do (3 sets / 3 reps) 50 pushups, 20-25 pullups and 50+ dips as my standard workout.
Should i cut down on calisthetics and just go straight into weights? Also, i have the metabolism of cheetah. I eat and eat and remain thin.

You can also make an free American iTunes account with a little trick. Just select the United States on the bottom of the iTunes main page then switch to the store. Select a free app you want to download and proceed to create a new account with "None" as payment method. After that you'll have to enter a few details and you'll have to activate your account in your email-inbox. That's how I got my application. I'm from Austria (south from Germany). He has great videos about nutrition, however if you have fast mentabolism you can do both, gaining a sixpack however goes much faster if you have a nice mix, nuts are great for protein if you dont want to use powder.
I personally use protein powder and also self made protein shakes (1or2 banana's 2 eggs a bit honey to take away egg taste and to sweeten it, vitamine powder instead of sugar + milk) this has already more than 1000 calories so just watch out that you dont end up eating 3000+

i saw ur channel about 1 month ago and i have been doing only cardio cuz i spend like more than half of the day at work and sleep 5-6 hours a day. I m 173cm and 75kg now i have been doing jump rope and jogging.
At first i have never ever done jump rope before so i had a hard time at the begining i stucked a lot my calves hurt a lot i think one day i pushed so hard with anger cuz i wasnt skipping like other guys in vids. so i wasnt able to walk properly for 3 days :D

xXxThrasherxXx360: Scooby has plenty of chest exercise videos, the serratus anterior, on the side of the upper ribs, acts as a fixator when performing pushups and incline dumbell press for example. Its main function is to hold your shoulder blades in position whilst you do the exercise- you can see when people aren't contracting these muscles in a push up when they have bad form and they cave in between the shoulder blades.

i downloaded a software for pc called perfect diet tracker it very similar to lose it! the iphone app
and its saying that i can have 1988calories/day 55%carbohydrates 15%protein and 30%fat which is 273g carb 74g protein and 64g fat
but im eating avrage:200g carbs 77g protein 38g fat 533mg sodium and 5.6g of fiber and total of 893 calories with the exercise am i doing good or bad?

I know they say you need at least 8 hours of sleep per night. However, would like to ask whether you personally sleep 8 hours?
As for me, I can't get more than 5, and that too 3-4 in the night and 1-2 before I hit the gym in the evening. Is that not OK?
Have you seen bodybuilders sleeping 4-5 hours per night and still building a good body?

hi im 15 and already have a 6 pack, but its not well defined. I weigh 120lbs (5'5) and i do a decent amount of cardio, but have horrible nutrition. I don't really want to lose weight (or not that much), but i want to gain weight and make it more defined. I work out alot on my abs, but i know it only gets u muscle and doesnt help you lose fat, so I am willing to correct my nutrition and do more cardio. However, I have trouble trying to make up meals due to calorie limits, anyone have any ideas?
