The following logo should have been used for "Casper's Halloween Party" as an NBC Special Presentation -- for the closing credits -- in the 1979-1980 Television Season.
Where, oh where has that Lorimar logo gone? This is my favorite. I remember seeing that logo on that show "Laugh-In". As a child, that theme song sounded very soothing and tranquil. I never found it scary at all. I love how the letters write in that dark background. I'm sad that that logo doesn't exist anymore.
The following LORIMAR logo became first used in the 1978-1979 Television Season. Nothing fancy -- nothing dull. This video would be rated a 6 in my book. The following logo was even useful in some motion pictures like "The Interneccine Project" back in 1974 -- with the LORIMAR name. Ask Anybody!!
@ebbowman...I agree! Whenever I hear the "Lorimar jingle", I feel like it's the '70's all over again, and I'm in elementary school. Life was so simple and fun back then!
Yeah I know, on SOAPnet and (The Waltons) reruns it is always blocked by that stupid WB logo, on The edited 90 minute (Dallas) episode it did get by, and when (Knots Landing) was on there we usually saw it!
This logo didn't scare me as it did the consensus. I guess it's a had-to-be-there thing; The earliest memories of my life are not before mid-to-late '85, so this was probably not used much anymore by then. All I know is that I never got to see the infamous 'line of doom' until recently.
i don't know why it scares people. the music is elegent and it's not up in your face like Viacom. Maybe it's the black background, but this is my favorite late-70s/early-80s logo of them all.
This can be seen on:
*The Waltons (September 1978-1981)
*Eight Is Enough (September 1978-1981)
*Dallas (September 1978-June 1986)
*Knots Landing (1979-June 1986)
*Falcon Crest (1981-June 1986)

So Lorimar instituted this logo when I was born. It definitely has a distinctly 70s feel to it.

This is a soothing Logo. I think about it when the weather is bad outside and how the soothing musci ties in with it.

I had a strange fascination with this version of the logo when I was a kid. Something about the style of it and music had a soothing effect to me.

It sucks that Lorimar is defunct. Anyone know why Lorimar went out of business? I'm thinking it had to do with bankruptcy issues or something.
swishahouse2006 5 years ago
they didnt go out of business, warner bros bought the company and its divisions and simply renamed it, warner television.

This logo has many variations over. Here we go:
1) This logo have an "Distributed by" above the word "Lorimar".
2) There also have the "A Lorimar Production/Presentation" version, like the "LP" logo.
3) Sometimes have a ®, sometimes not.
There were the 3 variations for the Line of Doom logo.

This logo is nicknamed "The Line of Doom" and has scared more than a few, though.

I like the earlier logo better..with the "l" overlapping the "p".
