@wrstark It is. The sum of the areas of the two sides is equal to the area of the hypotenuse. Thus each side is "squared", giving you an area. And therefore a^2 + b^2 = c^2.
@TomRiverstone Based on historical advancements, I'd say not a whole lot further. There have been no advancements in logarithms in nearly 400 years, no advancements in calculus for quite a while as well. However, with the number of mathematics students these days, would imagine that we have far more break throughs in the next 100 - 300 years, assuming that humans are around for that long, but that's a whole different discussion in itself.
eHow, i am greek and i love how you explain tha way of Greeks by sitting around arguing and talking too much without checking the practical side of their theories! That is a fine criticism for my people and really made me laugh!! However their theories proved to be correct even though they hadn't really put them on the table :)}
Indian consider the famous mathematician.The vedas who teach pythagoras the formula...i forget who is his name.Indian consider the best mathematician in the world
You and yoour white lies.Let me guess.The greek...Indus civilization born before you greek people.There even evidence stating that the greek learn from the indian and the indian learn how to fight from the greek.

Euler was the greatest...

Pythagoras gave us the rules for circles and triangles
Newton showed us the invisible circles and triangles at work in the natural world with his newtonian physics and calculus

?? "The square on the hypotenuse is equal to the square on the other two sides"??
This is an example of confused thinking.

one that is not really mentioned, though maybe not as famous as Pythagoras or Newton, would have to be Euclid, and maybe Descartes.

two most famous mathematicians should be gauss and euler bet this guy stop learning math in highschool
kelvinella 1 year ago
@kelvinella I'm fairly confident that Newton and Pythagoras are more well known to non mathematicians than Gauss and Euler.

@Yu2Kal When the world doesn't end in 2012 you have to come back and make a video apologizing for being ignorant.
