I've made pretty good kicks in FL Studio with Sytrus, Toxic Biohazard, 3xOsc and Vanguard... Microtonic and Junglist are a different story.. For distortion I used Camelphat, blood overdrive.. and sometimes frutiy squeeze... Also an EQ in the beginning can make the drum sound nice... The best waveforms in either synthesiser are SAW + SQUARE, PWM and they are all slowly modulated... You can get really sick drums :) Takes knowledge, but it's very possible to make sick drums in FL( > Reason)

for Fl you should use: Overdrive, fast Dist, Paramedic EQ, 3Xosc (or other VST's like 3Xosc), compressor <- with this you get a simple Hardcore Kick, is the easy'est way for Hardcore bass on Fl

And also ugly'est way. 3Xosc, fast dist and compressor from fruity are terrible. The overdrive is okay. But you will NEVER get a nasty kick like on reason with that. I challenge you to do it.

@legomousse I never say that, you get a nasty kick like in reason but you should check my Hardcore songs, all kicks with 3Xosc (1 or 2 songs is with sample kick from VIP zone). I say also some kicks are pretty low but thats because it's fast fast creation kick :P. My Dj name is Madrush or Ephor but with Ephor is just industrial... and i didnt say you got a high quality kick, just an easy fast kick. I only use 3Xosc then other plugins i swear some kicks are hard and nice.

BTW i also got Reason.

@legomousse Ah found it, nice shit tough (but i can only play Darkened World @ you're myspace). The best bass songs from mine you can check are: Ongeinspireerde Bagger Jump, Irritating, Gabbers From Belgium, the tracks are not 100% good mastered but are the best bass'es from my tracks. I got more hard bass'es with 3Xosc but just not in tracks. I try'ed some times to make a hard bass with microtonic but wasnt that good 4 me (check Fatal 303). Thats why i use 3Xosc. Have fun :-)

i dont think FL is better nor reason, they are just different from each other and both have some good sides and some bad.

but my opnion the best setup you can have ( besides a good Logic setup) is reason rewired to cubase which allows you to use the best of both programs. reasons stability and cubases vst support ;)

@thomas85127 Fl Studio is probably better for overall customizing and resampling, but comparing to reason reason is very very variable, but also a bit old in fact.. the best way in my opinion is to use reason 's powerfull synths and some effects as vsts in FL STudio - that 's in my opinion the best performance of both..

It sounds allright, but its missing a lot of low end (maybe it's the video, but i don't think so). But the most important thing is: how does it work with the rest of your sounds? Creating a kick from hell is pretty easy, but to have a devastating kickdrum with a subbass that blows your guts away and sounds roughs as f*ck, but also leaves some room in your mix for all those other nasty sounds, that's the real trick. Something I haven't quite figured out yet :(
