The Fila is not like this all the time! THIS 'TEST' IS STUPID! A fila is one of the most protective dogs ever & is soft as muck to it's family, it doesn't like strangers!. This test just encourages the dogs to be aggressive for no reason! Do you just like making dangerous dogs, because you encourage it to act like this is the reason these dogs are banned in so many countries if you do not have a court order saying you can have 1! It's cruel and pointless! Get a life u shouldn't be allowed dogs!

I have been around these dogs. The kennel ultimately quit breeding and selling them; the owner worried someone, probably a child, was going to get killed. Please do NOT get one until you spend lots of time with someone who knows them very well. They were used in Brazil to protect the plantation family from the dozens of slaves. Utterly fearless and without mercy.

Get a Rottie, or a Presa, or a Boerbol or other Mastiff breed instead. OR just rescue a big dog; so many need homes.

@ConiferTreez In USA, Presa is short for Presa Canario or Canary Dog; somehow the latter doesn't sound as scary! I don't mean to insult your dogs. Too many fools just want a "bad ass" dog and don't think ahead. The Fila just doesn't like strangers and is not afraid to bite them! The Presa Canario is much more controllable. Well-trained Rotties will protect people without being dangerous; mine protected an old man from a rowdy pit bull at the dog park without even being asked.

@jimi438 Unfortunately, the Dogo Argentino has (for the most part) gone by the wayside :-( You can still find good, hard ones, but they are mainly bred for show/pet quality, especially in the United States. Do you plan on getting your dog involved in any type of work? If you could let me know specifically what you're looking for, I can better help you :-)

i had a dane mastiff he was huge ,he was also like a wood chipper on legs .dogs like this are a huge responsibility .don't get me wrong having a dog like this gives one a great sense of safety walking anywhere any time the only fear i had was if he ever had gotten out of the yard. they are beautyful dogs though

The race is fantastic, I had a (tigrado). That Aron reminds mine a lot in the temper (persistence). The typical dog is extremely affectionate with the owner and distrustful with strangers (the creators give the name of ' ojeriza' for that characteristic), it is a race that doesn't need to be trained for guard. I only advise the basic commands of obedience to obey the orders more quickly. Excellent the video.

Filas get so obsessive about protecting their master that it is hard to control them in that state of mind. I used to own a Fila and she would obsessively walk around my daughters (in the backyard) always watchin the fence line, while watching them. Then at night she would guard them and periodically get up to lick their faces to see if they were okay. She was absolutely obsessive about them, but I trusted her completely and she believed her sole purpose in life was to guard them.

These dogs have a temperament called ojeriza, which means"hatred and aversion to stranger ". Even for the best trainer, it's incredibly hard to make it a social animal.
