Like many people are saying this guy is hugely under-appreciated. This song is beautiful from start to finish. I first heard it a long time back after living off Love's "Forever Changes" on repeat. (Yes, another superb outpouring of good music). For anybody that hasn't heard David Holmes Presents the Free Associations' cover of this - it's worth a listen. True to the original except for the female vocals and a subtle beat here and there for an extra touch.
I agree civilwheels...I hear you...just all his songs you know by heart and it takes you waaaaaaaaaaaay back.....trying to think who else's music impacts me this way nowdays..???
I was 15 when i first heard cold fact, i am 47 now and it has been an album that i can never tire of,,not just the man or his music but the memories of hangin with friends getting faceless and slipping cold fact or the coming from reality album on the turn table and just mellow out,,yep even in todatys hectic pace listening to Rodriguez can take me back and i chill out all over again,,,Pete

I was seing this girl how was a little bit older than me a couple of years ago and after everytime we got it on she always played this. Combined with the drugs I was taking at the time fuck it always spun me out, it still freaks me out a bit, its like something out of a spagetti western or something but overall I do like it............. but wierd.
I had the amazing pleasure speaking with Sixto Rodriguez this past Fourth Street fair in Detroit, Michigan as well as at a recent benefit for Donovan's Pub in Detroit as well. Rodriguez is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. His recently acclaimed success after 3 decades makes it clear that eventually the world will pick up on the music of great musicians like Detoit's Sixto Rodriguez....cheers!
Really a shame that this guy has not been acknowledged in the States and given the status he clearly deserves. Another indictment of the music industry.
Yeah! The only place where Rodriguez really made a name for himself was in South Africa and Australia... It's actually rediculous because his music is f u c k i n' awesome! My favorite song is still Crucify Your Mind oh and Hatesteet Dialogue.
im from sa too but now live the states. but anyway i had this hip hop song by nas on the other day its called "your the the man" that sampled sugar man and my dad over heard it. he was telling me that he was huge in the south africa and no else really knew of his music!! just heard it for the first time, great song...

Just saw "Searching for Sugar Man," documentary by Malik Bendjelloul at Sundance in Ogden. Even includes music from the unreleased third album.

Hey 'allsfullofluv' get the whole album and listen to it. Probably not the music for all occassions, but none ever is.
Very Very good music and production considering it was recorded in 1969.

so,what do you think this song is about-anyone a buff who could turn me on to more of his music?
