Medical Lobbyists paid $133,000,000 last qtr to kill UHC and a public option. Why did they spend so much and how are they able to afford to spend so much? Healthcare is a MULTI-TRILLION DOLLAR business. $133 Million dollars is lunch money to them. Premiums are king and you are their servants. The GOV. option is to contain costs and control the greed of these guys that are ripping off the public. Take Obama out of the equation and realize we are going to come to a crisis in this country, because companies will not be able to afford to offer medical and dental benefits. There are companies that dropped dental and stopped offering it to new employees. Medical is next and if you do not think this is going to affect you, think again.

Companies are paying $1,200 to $1,700 per empl now. This is what forced GM to have to restructure. The cost is unsustainable and we all lose. Think.

There was a white gentleman on CNN the Wed. that lost his job, but through COBRA would be able to cover his family medically for $1,200 a month. Does this make sense? This does not include the other fees, this is just for the privilege of saying you have private medical coverage.

Do you really believe the UHC and public option is for the benefit of the poor? It is for the protection of the public from predatory medical providers.

Family coverage is appr. $1,700 monthly. before fees.

Medicare operates to care for people, while the health care industry is in business to make money for its investors (and pay exorbitant management fees). Two different goals, two different results.

Furthermore, Medicare's 3-5% overhead vs. the 25%-35% overhead for private insurers should tell people how those results are structured.

For example: If you sell policies only to healthy kids who don't make any claims, your overhead is 100% REGARDLESS of how efficient administration is. These numbers simply show that Medicare's patients are older and sicker than those of private insurers. It's not evidence of government efficiency at all. Plus 96% of Medicare's overhead is unrelated to claims processing.

Medicaid and Medicare is what is currently keeping private healthcare premiums down to only 12% of your income. What are you going to do when premiums reach 40% of your pay? There are other plans out there, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal has a bipartisan plan AND Newt Gingrich has been making healthcare policy reform suggestions since BEFORE Obama was elected. The majority of Americans are against a government-run system to cover all Americans as a solution to the c. 27 million Americans who can't afford private healthcare insurance now.

These are true claims, not provaocative in the least. Do your own homework. Look critically at the Canadian helathcare system, one of the worst of the socialized medical systems. When I was last in Ireland the papers were full of the problems the nation was having with funding its national healthcare system and the problems with rationing, etc. This was BEFORE the financial crisis had even started. I live in Germany, which has one of the better socialized systems, with problems as well.
