There's a "duel" mode, as I've dubbed it where there are one-on-one battles between certain characters. There's a duel between Ichigo and Byakuya as one of the choices, and when you defeat Byakuya, Ichigo is able to use Byakuya's Senbonzakura Kageyoshi. I'm not sure if it happens vice-versa, as I've only done it one-way.

WHAT THE HELL! ichigo's shikai is zangetsu and power based also using reiatsu with his getsuga tenshou. BUT he does have a bankai-which is tensa zangetsu and is a speed and power and strength boost...not senbon zakura.. -.-"

Well as you complete missions and special fights you unclock characters also, so keep on doing them. There are 50 missions and about 20 special 1v1 fights.
