gaffing tape is like $12 a roll, its awesome doesn't leave residue on the cables. it wont leave sticky stuff on carpet either, or wall outlets.  BUT USE SPARINGLY! i'd still keep regular duct tape with me if you had to tape down something 20 feet long...
