i had sedation when they took out 4 of my teeth. i hateee laughing gas because it feels weird! and my lip was numb & my teeth hurt for about a week but it felt normal after :). hehe. i'll be getting braces soon. i chose pulling my teeth instead of expanders because it hurt like fiddlesticks x]! lmfao! i couldn't even eat!
I'm having a tooth out soon, (a fang at the top front of my mouth) I've had 2 lower fangs on the bottom front of my mouth, I had no sedation for them 2, this is my last tooth out before I get a brace but I am extremely terrified about getting this last tooth out, what will I benefit from having this method of sedation?
@DecTM well for starters, the effect would end really quickly, and 2 you would stil be able to notice your surroundings, you just wont really care about all those things, it would also make you feel really good whenever you would move , and without any bad side effects apart from a slight headache later, also you would be able to remember everything from the operation if you chose too (but you might be too relaxed to want to try and remember), but also you wont have a David After Dentist moment.
I went to my dentist to remove a severely cracked molar from grinding my teeth. I suffer from panic attack disorder, GAD and hypertension. My b.p. was 140/95 b4 the procedure. The dentist put the mask on and said it would give me a 3 margarita feeling. I would like to know where he gets his margaritas, b/c the experience was great. Once the gas hit and I allowed myself to relax, everything went fine. I take 2 mg of Xanax/day and the NO2 was much more effective. I would be fine if i had to repeat
I use n2o for all dental visits and yes even for cleanings as even though I brush once a day I have very sensitive gums and It keeps me from having a sore mouth after a cleaning for at least 2 hours last time I used it it lasted about 4 hours before my mouth was sore
Drive yourself home?? The one time I was sedated here in Ga. they required that I have a ride home. I was very out of it for at least a couple of hours and couldn't imagine driving safely after Nitrous Oxide sedation.
I don't mind getting shots but I don't feel that they are adequate. I remember at one point that the dentist said I had 2.5 shots, but I still fest quite a bit of pain. Do you still get the injections with Nitrous Oxide? Is Nitrous Oxide more effective than injections?
Im going to the dentist soon and im extremely scared to the point i will refuse to have anything done to me without having some form of sedation will this make me feel no pain throughout the procedure of having 1 tooth taken out, 1 tooth refilled and 2 filled?
"High as a kite" sums it up, I've nearly fallen asleep on it a few times and my poor dentist had to stop and shake me a little bit. But, I was just goin with the flow.

@ferrariF47 Novocaine (lidocaine) works much faster than 10-20 minutes. When injected the effect in nearly instantaneous.

I appreciate it a great deal too. When I learned about N02 is when I learned I could go to the dentist without having a complete meltdown.
