The real battle for oil isn't over supplies but control of those supplies and in what currency it is sold.Currently virtually all oil (75 million barrels a day) is sold in US dollars ,because of that the US gets a cut for every barrel sold its worth trillions and is literally the cornerstone of US GDP growth ,without it the US ceases to be a superpower.Its why the US went into Iraq because in 2000 Saddam set up an oil exchange not in US dollars
