What a bizarre area! On time I found a tree that turned completely horizontal at sitting height and then after about 3 or 4 feet it turned vertical again. It was the perfect natural bench.
Hi Kurt! Looks like it could be a Ficus religiosa (possibly). If it is then it's the same kind of tree the Buddha sat under when he became enlightened. Looks like a great place to meditate, you never know you might follow in his footsteps. ;)
Truly amazing and a rare find indeed; like something out of Lord of the Rings. I did a double take at 4:25. It almost looks like there is someone behind the root on the left, grasping it with his right arm. Then when u pan over to the right, that limb looks like the giant head of a lizard or bird!!
That stone make me think that maybe that place was an old temple location. It is too well carved to be a farmer's work. May be if you find some one who knows the history of that place you will get more info. Hey Kurt this is a very cool place for a Geocaching location. What do you think?
@LordBalto Well I am just guessing. If you see the other videos were Kurt shows the farming terraces and walls farmers build you will notice that the stones are natural not carved. Now he finds this stone in the middle of nowhere seems to me that it is too well carved to be part of a farm may be an old temple or who knows may be an old cemetery O_o It would be freaking awesome to spend the night under the octopus tree telling horror stories XD
@Jaruco03 My point was that such objects of natural beauty are often the focus of Shinto shrines. In the absence of other evidence, it's difficult to tell what it represents. Searching around, I notice that such cubic stones are often, and almost exclusively, used as pavers, currently manufactured in China. The small tree, of course, would have razed the stone above where it originally sat.

I imagined trees like that one when I was reading The Lord of the Rings in the part they travel on The Mirkwood forest. It looks like a bonsai just that it is 1000000 bigger XD

That is truly a find of finds. The way it is perched on the big rock is the most spectacular feature.

I wonder how that tree looked like a few hundred years ago. What if that forest was inhabited by "elves" and other magical creatures?

I spoke too soon.
You should ask about that tree in the nearest village, preferably from the oldest person willing to talk with you.
That may have been a sacred tree in eras past little alter to the tree becoming engulfed by it's base would be pretty cool story.
