Simply. The turn around point for a mixed up and downhill race is the top(and/or bottom) of the hill. On a tight course that can be the only place to pass the other car. The Skyline moved along side the RX7 and got it's nose ahead, and turned in hard. Since they were both going about the same speed, and turning at the same rate, the Skyline being ahead got out of the turn first. Also the RX7 had to break to not hit the tail end of the Skyline at the apex of the turn.
