  • i'm with bunny, more sexual mary is my wife, but bunny is my mistress,in my dream get it?lol

  • I have to say though I like both versions, the Debarge version is the one I remember when someone mentions the name of the song. Good job by both of them!

  • I think the ORIGINAL is tha best, thats WORD UP!! How i miss the 80's when i use to tag..

  • Nah the soul of this song cant be touched.. Not even by Mary.. Mary brings hip hop to songs. And this song doesnt need it. Bunny hands down.

  • mary made the song popular because i am 43 and i never paid attention to the song until she did it, their version sounds soul-less!!!

  • AS WE DANCE TO THE MELODY WE HAVE SO MUCH TO SHARE WHEN THE MUSIC STOP IN A FLAH I WAS ALL ALONE!!! MY FAV I GOT CRAZY MEMORIES

  • This is fire....I didn't even know this was a remake.....I heard it on the money talks soundtrack and sold on it....

  • I love Mary. She is bad to the bone and a real soldier. The only woman to make me buy products from TV.

  • So many Memories

  • I like Bunny's better. I have loved her version for years. It's almost like you can hear the pain and longing in her voice as she sings. I feel Bunny's version

  • I love BOTH versions..but NO ONE does a remake like Mary!!! I love her version more

  • @Eightysbayb803 Ok, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts

  • I prefer the 1983 original, myself... ;-)

  • THIS IS SOOOOOOOOOOO LONG YO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but good song ,good song

  • I like Bunny's version better. But I love some of Mary's tunes, especially the more mature or older ones. She has indeed become a class act and is a great example to many who started where she did, i.e. Keysha Cole, etc.

  • @miamac63utube Thanks for stopping by and posting great comments

  • I liked both version but however Mary's Version meant more at the time u had a combo of both soul and hip hop.

  • uh uh Debarge!! way better

  • love debarge better love bunny's part .

  • No I like the Debarge ! Hands down the original ! Nothing against Mary !

  • I like this cover song better than the debarge's original. But their song too is alright I still like it both.

  • damn i luv this song thanks for the posting

  • I love mary but I got to got with old school " bunny"

  • I think Mary's version meant more to music at the time, just because she was singing soul when soul was abandoned, she brought it back and added hip-hop for good measure.

  • MJ AND SPIDERMAN

  • This is from the Money Talks movie soundtrack, I bought this cd a lonnnnng time ago because I wanted to hear this remake! lol long before youtube and being able to look up a song u wanted to hear! lol Its cool to see these vs vids! this is a good one because it's not bias like some vs vids i have seen! good work on 2 versions of one great song!

  • @cocotreasure Thanks for stopping by, and I appreciate your comments!

  • This is from the Money Talks movie soundtrack, I bought this cd a lonnnnng time ago because I wanted to hear this remake! lol long before youtube and being able to look up a song u wanted to hear! lol

  • Mary is the best

  • Love both versions.......I am partial to the soprano voice, as I sing soprano myself, however, Mary J. put a little more soul to the song.

  • i like bunny's version better her voice is not as rough and the song is not as shallow

  • this iz my fav song of all time luv u mary

  • Bunny made a good song and a fire beat. If you dont think it's fire, look at the great artists that sampled it that must of thought it was a good beat. Mary does the song good too. Ironically one of my favorite songs sung by both Mary and Bunny.

  • @benzo560 Great point!

  • Marys voice too powerful the other one just sounds cute mj blew her out the water. but Debarge are true innovators

  • @MrFred145 "Mary's voice too powerful" Oh really ? Thanks for watching

  • Comment removed

  • @MrFred145 Thats a bold statement. Id pay money to hear Bunny sing this. No disrespect to Mary J. Thats my girl and I see her everytime she comes through, Thats like Bunny singing Reminisce. It just aint the same.

  • @sheraz757 THanks

  • I like Mary's version, it's about sex. She wants to spend the night with someone. Mary does sing it in her own special way, and it's something to cruise to. But hands down BUNNY DEBARGE's VERSION IS THE BEST EVER. Her voice is perfect for this song. She wrote it with true feelings and sings it the way it should be sung. Bunny's version is more sincere and you can hear it in her voice. You can truly relate to Bunny and her feelings. She misses her man and wants to share a life with him.

  • aint my baby bad ????

  • @bubaweezee Who Bunny Debarge...LOL

  • Nobody does it like Bunny!

  • sang the orignal in a talent show when i was like 13, but in all honesty mary j's version is best. to me it just a bangin song, so much real feeling, it still gives me chills like back in da day

  • Bunny Debarge all day but Mary but her signature twist on it....good remake but like 2pac said I Aint Mad at cha

  • I love Mary and my mom cant stand her and says she's the queen of remakes...lol

    umm...yea she is.

But she shudve left this to debarge 4 sure. Becuz this aint that

  • I like both versions but I feel Bunny's version. Bunny's is definitely better.

  • i don't know, my opinion is definitely skewed... i grew up as a small kid lovin' mary j's music... all in all, they're both great!

  • bunny did a better job

  • hey!!!! thats Bunny Debarge in the 2nd part..wow!!! thats so good of Mary j Blige to do that..oh heck i just read the title..oopz my bad!!!

  • I can't compare the 2. I love them both! You really wrote this song? I'm in love with this song!!!! I can so relate to it! I don't care who sings it as long as they sound good, I'm with it! I have been looking for this song for years and ppl kept telling me they didn't know what I was talking about. Only one person remembered it but she thought Lisa Lisa sang it, lol... Now I can see what made her say it but DeBarge was a better group to me. Sorry about the T.M.I....lol

  • No, Bunny DeBarge wrote this song.

  • Oh ok. Thank you!

  • @CallMeCharlie11 That's cool Plus Bunny DeBarge wrote this song and her brother El produced it

  • love this song used to sing this all the time i also love the original it gives me chills

  • me too..i just heard the original{debarge,Bunny} last nyt,for the 1st tym since 84-85..i was so gettin the chills...just thort i'd have a listen to this..its ok..

  • oh and by da way u know mary smashed this song right=)

  • i really wish i could get this song=]

  • dlp1965,mary's version is good but theres no feeling!!But when Bunny sings it you feel what she's saying it gives you the chills so hands down to Bunny.

  • Thanks for the comments. As the writer of the song, Bunny had a sincere connection to the song's lyrics.

  • no sorry mary but bunny debarge version is better

  • I agree, Bunny's version has a haunting effect; personifies dreams and love lost. it

  • @davetteb100 yes it does i agree...

  • 1997!

  • I loved Mary's Version because there is more bass and feeling behind the words that she sang. I just feel that Mary always delivers well when she sings even in the songs that she has that I don't particularly like. I can respect DeBarge's version because it is quiet and the "dream" factor is captured behind the song but definitely Mary! I loved it loved it!!! Thank you though I had no idea it was remade (isn't every song a remake nowadays though)

  • Thanks for watching & posting your comments

  • I noticed in the original version Bunny sings "Let's build a life together" and Mary sings "Let's spend the night together" in her version. That's a pretty telling example of one thing wrong with the music industry today.

  • Thanks for that GREAT observation. Right on time

  • @maqclark very very true! i love mary's version but like tht line from debarge better

  • @maqclark on point!

  • @maqclark taking the song down a few notches! Thanks for pointing that out. This is my first time hearing this version. It's always nice to hear that melody but I prefer Debarge's version. Debarge should redo this one!!!

  • @maqclark How do you know what she meant by spending the night together, not like she said let's fcuk! Maybe your comment is telling of what's one your mind, lol.!!

  • @maqclark 2 of the best artists(of my time) have also sampled De Barge tracks. "A dream" is Pac's I ain't mad at cha and "stay with me" is Biggie's "One more chance". I kinda liked the throwbacks as long as they credited the originals. IMHO even those 2 remakes are classics of that time. Anything put out today is just the same bass, snares, and dre's 808's loop a high school kid in their parent's basement could create on FL.

  • It was purposely done like tht & thtz y this is her version for promotional use && she still did an AWSOME job of singing with tht soul & feeling flowing throughout it @maqclark

  • @maqclark so true

  • the one from the old days got my vote all day.

  • wow, i didnt know the classic version. thanks for ducating me there :) I love both versions now!!!!

  • OH NO~!! BUNNY killed it~!!

No disrespect to Mary J.. she's a true talent but this track was made for Bunny Debarge

  • I love Mary, but when I think of this song it's always Bunny's version that I think of

  • Love it.. Money Talk Soundtrack was Great!!! Mary Did this song JUSTICE!!

  • im always partial to the originals... (even though Mary J is more my generation -- '86 baby) ... gotta give this one to DeBarge... even though Mary's version is great also.. i think she def did the song justice in the remake

  • Mary's version has soooooo much more soul and passion in it! I'm going with Mary with this one...the Debarge one is ...cute...but Mary killed it!

  • Having said that,

I prefer the Debarge version better.

  • I've never heard either of these songs

before so when I listen to the music

    I can't help but think of 2pac's

    " I ain't mad at cha."

  • Yes 2pac sampled Debarge too!

  • @seand67 So Did BlackStreet

  • @MUSICENCYLOPEDIA Right, Teddy Riley did use the sample. Thanks

  • @seand67 No problem. He sampled this song for BlackSTREET's classic "Don't Leave Me'

  • @MUSICENCYLOPEDIA Oh yes, Blackstreet's 'Another Level' was one of the BEST CDs from 1996. I have it in my collection

  • @seand67 I got it for my moms for Christmas. DeBarge needs to be honored by BET and Soul Train

  • I'm actually a BIG Mary fan.....but thats God AWFUL! I've said it once; I'll say it 1000 times....LEAVE THE CLASSICS ALONE! Lauryn Hill and Jenifer Hudson get a pass

  • LMAO x 5!! Call me later Kevin...;~)

  • I prefer Mary's cause it was the first version I heard.

  • cool video man enjoyed both versions.

  • Love Mary ,but Bunny owns this song!!!!!!

  • IMHO, the Debarge version is better, no question. Like an earlier poster said, Bunny's vocals seemed more effortless. That said, nothing wrong with MJB's version, the vocals are definitely grittier, more raw... But that's her style... Thanks for sharing!

  • 1st, I didn't even know MJB did a remake. SD man, sorry, but if this was the Gong Show, MJB would be gettin' that gong!! DeBarge, DeBarge, DeBarge!!!! Hands down brah!!! C'mon, you didn't really think MJB could stand up to DeBarge? Mary does better when she sings her own stuff.

  • Im sticking with Debarge on this one...I just remember that poster hanging in my room.... plus I will alway love that melody.

  • I prefer Debarge's version over Mary's because the original was so heartfelt, and the passion & the melody of the words helped the song become a lovable and classic song. The remake wasn't bad, it just wasn't better than the original.

  • I dig them both.

  • DeBarge, DeBarge, DEBARGE!!! But you knew I was gonna say them!!! LOL Bunny just ripped that song apart, especially towards the end when she started hitting those notes & doing all those runs!!! Man, she showed OUT on that track!!! Mary did her thing for this generation, but if you're gonna do a remake, do it just like, or better than the original!!! This is a great idea Sean, you should do more of these dude!!!

  • Thanks Kev, but you know we have to be careful posting the music now. Stay tuned, I may post another Remake vs Original video again soon.

  • Dude, you know I know that BEST!!! LOL But as long as WMG don't own it, we're okay!!!

  • Cool. I may also create a few mixes (3-4 songs) and post them. There's still a wealth of possiblilities with or without WMG.

  • I agree that DeBarge's was better ...seems like less effort on the part of Bunnie............... Mary seemed like she was just singing instaed ot expressing herself in song besides she seems a little too old to be singing such a song you know she ain't into fantasy at her age ???LIke Boobear I am a fan of Mary's BUt the original seems more "authentic"...........just my take on it ....stay blessed

  • Hey Sean, I prefer Debarge's version hands down!!!!! Although I'm not a big fan of Bunnie's vocals, I think this particular song is well suited for her sound and vocal approach. I can't imagine any other female vocalist giving this song the treatment she did. No disrespect to Mary, I'm a fan of hers as well, but I think she's does better when she performs songs she writes or others write with her in mind. Those great songs she's chosen to remake always seem to be beyond her vocal range.

  • Yeah, Bunny isn't the best vocalist, but I do hear a Deniece Williams influence. As for Mary, she seems to be reaching for notes that just aren't there, which is the case on most of her 'remakes'.
