I remember you from 1993 from Misty Corners in the Poconos, you are the BEST...I have been telling people of you for years......playing your HARP with your nose and playing without a band with just tapping your foot....you are OUT OF THIS WORLD.......so glad I found you.....
this is truly classic! it reminds me of when my dad would gather around with a few great musicians really enjoying themselves playing some great tunes...
vankoven, Sorry if I came on too strong. Sammy has been a big part (along with Fred) of Levon Helm's Midnight Rambles. They work together beautifully, a couple of talented, eccentric musicians. Sammy's got a briefcase full of harmonicas in every imaginable key and type. The grin on Fred's face when Sam reaches for his "briefcase full of blues" is priceless!
zydecologist , No apology necessary and no offense taken. Everyone expresses their love of music in their own way. Both of these guys sound great.
Question: How difficult to you think it would be for an average accordion player (a goof off, play at home kind of accordion player that reads music) to switch over to a zydeco or even a concertina?
Yeah, what's the difference between the Zydeco, accordion and concertina, Key/chord/base wise? My Dad was from Belgium and played the squeeze box/concertina.
To whoever disparaged Fred Scribner as "the gringo/caucasion/white guy with the sunglasses", I've rarely seen a fellow musician who facilitates a great great great brother musician like Fred does with Sammy. Ask Levon if you don't believe me. Fred illuminates an American/international treasure like nobody's business. I saw Fred and Sammy play acoustic guitars in a field near the woods one evening that was just resplendent.
I earnestly seek your pardon...I tried to explain my previous post using several different combinations of words, but each new combination sounded more and more like an excuse rather than an explanation...so I deleted everything. Thse guys DO SOUND great, dont they?
I read vankoven's comment before he deleted it. He did not say anything about either of these two very fine musicians ability to play their respective instruments. I dont want a contest or argument with anyone, but the responses vankoven received to his second post, the post he made after he complimented Little Sammy Davis, did not relate to the way either of these two play. I believe it was the antics of the guitar player...I suppose vankoven should close his eyes and just enjoy the music.
