  • this will never die!!!

  • it will be fun if you play guitar while hearing this song

  • Jimi's voice is unique

  • @Somonein1997 True! Jimi has an amazing voice! Please check out my Hendrix covers too, if you wouldn't mind....

  • So sad to see one of the best drummers from the past, playing like a retard today

  • What's the name of the singer?

  • @Bilal1Page steve winwood

  • en el min 5:59 jajaja iba a romper las cuerdas

  • el mejor solo que he escuchado.... tiene mucho feeling

  • this sends chill down my spine ........

  • I don't play guitar, but I have been a Hendrix fan since '71 and he plays Strat...I guess Slash is gonna' play a Gibson. Why is he attempting to cover Hendrix or is this just Slash's slant on Hey Joe?...I sure miss Stevie Ray Vaughn...

  • @1stSaintsFan slash is a huge Jimi Hendrix fan.He said himself that hendrix was an inspiration.Even though Jimi used a Strat,Slash prefers to use Gibson Les Pauls with Seymour Duncan Alinco Pro 2 pickups because it gives him that raw sound that he likes.I see this more of a tribute than just a hall of fame show.

  • @GunsNRoses103 Point well taken...G 'n R is one of my favorite bands. Slash is the man...Axl Rose's voice is pretty well shot by now...Maybe he can go the no voice country music route of a Kid Rock...Oh thats right...Axl couldn't play the be nice to fans to gain favor in Nashville.

  • Too bad he didn't play it on a stratocaster.

  • Hey Slash ;P

  • is that steve winwood singing?

  • @MultiStevieH yep =)

  • Mrkeirc90 i am agree with u

  • i just said Slash rules

  • You guys shouldn't be ripping any of the musicians here, that's not what music is about, everyone is different, sure slash didn't play this song like jimi, that dosent mean you should talk shit about him.

  • Mitch Mitchell on drums and Billy Cox on bass.

  • lol hate slash so much, he is so overrated. I mean there are 10.000 people on youtube who can play better than him. I dont mean faster but just better, smarter.

This is so easy to play it in the slash way. No one can copy jimi becouse he is special and slash just inst... any way thats my opinion. just wanted to say that = )

  • @NapsterRulez You might be able to play like Slash but, did you or any of the youtubers you talk about write all of those amazing Guns riffs? Did you write the Sweet Child solo or the last solo in November Rain? Did you even write anything as simple yet effective as the Slither riff? I'll agree Slash is overrated. He's a good player, not the best. I'd not even say that his playing stands out that much. I do think however he deserves respect for his role in Rock and Roll history. Peace. :)

  • @Nickpatient thanks for ure comment, and i agree whit u. He deservers respect for what he did in guns and rozes and the rock and roll world, but al im saying is that he is not as new as jimi. He doesnt seem to enjoy it. And i think that thats the most important. Jimi is like my hero and its just wierd to see that people say that slash is "better" (i dont believe in better) so thanks for ure comment and sorry for my late response

  • Slash is one of the best guitarist on the planet and not for the speed or hard playing solos BUT for he's best written solos in GNR and in VR

you can actually sing his solos like jimmy page's or david gilmour solos

for me he's one of the top 5 rock guitarist

  • Les Paul is the best guitar ever (imho), but there should be a law which forbids playing this song with anything but a Stratocaster.

  • nelíbí - originál je jen jeden

  • The best part of thes is Billy and Mitch, Steve (sadly) and Slash make it sound horrible... Jimi is not honored with this .

  • @TheBlakem Shut up and fuck off

  • @MrRC1992 nice. wow your very mature. hows 13 years old treating you.

  • @TheBlakem Funny. You must be a funny guy. Nonetheless, if you don't like it, why don't you go cry in the corner of your mum's apartment?

  • @MrRC1992 thats a good idea, because I can't stop crying at how bad Slash and Steve butchered this tune.Dont get me wrong, I like Slash and Steve, but they stunk on this.

  • @TheBlakem In what way did they 'butcher' this song? It sounds fuckin great man...

  • @MrRC1992 The way Steve sang it, it sounds like a bar band... I hate how soft he made it.. thats all, and Slash sounds simple and drunk on it... I usually like Slash..I didnt on this. But hey, they are getting paid and not me , so there you go..

  • @TheBlakem Well, I must admit that the singer didn't sound fantastic. But I still think that Slash did a great job.

  • @MrRC1992 yeah, I think I was to hard on him... who am I to judge him anyway.. Im sure Jimi was looking down smiling that people were thinking of him.

  • RIP Mitch

  • Jimi Hendrix isn't recognized as the greatest guitarist, but as the most creative with a guitar. He flipped and reversed his guitar 'cause he was a lefty, he played the first solo with his teeth, the second? Behind his head. He burned a guitar that did not belong to him, because the person had stole and pawned his guitar. Not to mention how guitar experts claim he's a bad guitarist, yet you can't name one person who has imitated him. I wish I could see him today and praise him, to his face.

  • @Infinityjet just saying Hendrix was an amazing guitarist and overall musician u could ask any of the greats such as Eric Clapton, Santana, Jimmy Page, and if he was still alive Duane Allman. They would all answer with no hesitation that Hendrix was the greatest guitarist to ever live. Hell even slash would say and probably has said that Hendrix is the best ever. And besides all that I really think they should have had someone else sing it really just ruined that performance even with slash's c

  • why does everyone think jimi owns these guys? the truth is....slash and most other famous guitar players nowadays would wipe the floor with jimi technically (And some soulfully) .... it's what jimi did for MUSIC that made him so famous

  • @infinityjet they wouldn't wipe the floor with jimi, most guitar players now jut concentrate on speed and trying to play the most complicated thing there is to play instead of playing what you want to with the most soul you can possibly put into a song, that is what made jimi unique

  • @GetCrunked10

i think bonamassa is a great combination of both

  • Jimi is 50 times better.... wow not even close

  • is that billy cox on bass? if it is he played in band of gypsys with jimi Hendrix. he was at woodstock.

  • its wonderful to see how jimi alone is way better that all those guys with modern equipement

  • NOW THIS IS WHAT I CALL A TRIBUTE :)

  • anyone else think that although slash is phenominal..john frusciante would of been a phenominal choice for this ?

  • 56 people found their girls in bed with Joe !

  • What a KILLER rendition, Slash has such class and style and he freeking shreds this song in his own sweet way. As a lifettime Hendrix fax gotta love this video!!

  • JIMY RULES.

    SLASH NON RULES.

  • @gremby 1. learn english...at least the basics 2. who are U to talk about anyone like that? wanna know the truth?slash and jimi are both great musicians 3. u are a piece of shit

  • @RockerCroatia succhiami le palle figlio di cagna.

cazzo vuoi demente di merda? e poi croatia, sei croato??' zinghero di merda.

  • @gremby real mature of you...thank you you know i learn italian in school and it's boring to death...fuck you fuckin italian assface

  • slash is very good but Jimi is a whole different thing, slash doesn't play the solo with his teeth while he's on enough drugs to kill a horse

  • @joshygin i would disagree regarding the drugs

  • @ethdarkful Well yeah but which ones still alive?

  • @joshygin

    lol

  • @joshygin actually slash has played with his teeth when he was high like that, you may wanna watch his videos before jumping into that conclusion. Slash loved Hendrix so it's obvious where he got his attitude on certain things.

  • Comment removed

  • Slash is great however, the rhythm of this performance is too slow. That is why there is no anger in this song here. I think that Jimi's idea was different. First of all he wanted to show anger and his regret.

  • @tonyzakoscielny Jimi played his own version, Slash making different, with personality and creativity.. no need to be so stupid to play the same thing

  • THE SINGER IS Steve Winwood

  • the singer's voice reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughan's voice

  • is not his thing!

  • Of course, I will always consider Jimi's version to be the best... But I am a huge Hendrix fan. To feel that another performer can not perform the tune and do it well is rather narrow minded. after all, Jimi reocrded a cover. I believe the first person to sing it was the person who penned the tune... something Rose. The second group to record it was I think The Leaves in the early 60's. Maybe if you you tube the song, you will find all versions and apperciate each for the effort given.

  • why´s grandma playing the drums o_O!?

  • @Machakboy i believe the only reason no one has replied you is because you dont even deserve a reply. THATS FUCKING MITCH MITCHELL.

  • @LesPaulFelix well "FUCKING MITCH MICHELL" and my grandma must be relatives or something!

  • I don't think it was the best idea that Slash is playing a Jimi Hendrix song. You can't make conparison between them. Both have there own signature and both are playing the guitar fn awseome. They're both legends and simply epic.

Slash has done a great job, and I love Slash, but you can't compare him with Jimi Hendrix, just because both have their own style.

    Rock on.!

  • Who plays the bass?Fantastic.Who did knows the answer?

  • @ardrack1 Dont know but it should have been Noel Redding

  • @TheLedzep007 I didn't realise it was Mitch Mitchell until I say your comment. He is one wicked drummer alright, just like Ginger Baker from Cream in his day I reckon.

  • Steeve Winwood doesn't sing "terrible", he is a great musician, go listen to Trafic or see with who he is touring

  • @Corocateur Agree fully. Winwood's voice is unique and unfortunately 'Hey Joe' doesn't really suit his range. Check out Winwood with the 'All Stars' version of 'Gimme Summer Lovin' 'on Youtube. It's a ripper. Sorry I can't supply the url.

  • so who is

  • 6:30 - my favorite guitar riff. So simple, yet so powerful

  • 6:30 - my favorite guitar rift ever. So simple, yet so powerful.

  • singer is no good to bad because slash is so good ...

  • @phenix749 jimmie wasnt a great singer either. not sure what u trying to say. lol. dont really think it was about the voice. jimmie sure wasnt.

  • Damn, the vocals are terrible. Is the singer disabled or something? Slash is great!

  • awesome and bluesy. great cover. You have to be deaf to dislike this.

  • 2:28 - can you feel it too? Amazing...

  • slash smashed it.......how the hell those strings didnt snap i dont know.......

  • 2:29 ORGASM ;) !

  • rythm is total fucked up... well, maybe only a bit.... just a litlte to slow... well... fuck it, its Slash, he can play it as slow as he wants :3

  • slash is the only one who can give hendrix the water! nobody is so awesome on the guitar like this both dudes. Sorry but i don't like the vocals on this version.

  • Top three guitarists that have done great Hendrix covers (in no order):

    Randy California (Spirit)

    Stevie Ray Vaughn

    Slash

  • 2:50 doesn't really sounds like it has to sound, but i have to shut my mouth right now and go back listening to the song. Slash did an awesome job!

Maybe he is Overrated, I still think he's one of the best!

  • How can Winwood forget the lyrics to a classic song like this? It's not like it's Proust, it's Hey Joe! He could've spoke up, said, "Hey fellas, not too sure about the lyrics here." I'm 43, grew up listiening to Hendrix, Clapton, Page, Satriani, etc. Slash kicks ass. He did an incredible job here.

  • Winwood could've learned the lyrics.

  • a census taker once tried to test Slash. Slash melted his face off with a guitar solo

  • For those who hate Slash- You do have the right to not like him and even think he is overrated but you can't deny his talent. Can't deny this memorable performance that he did. Perfect flow, feeling, and tempo. Other guitar players would maybe play to fast or to crazy. Is a simple Hey Joe Jimi Hendrix that needed to be well improvised in Blues/Major scale.

  • @gbamati well said big fella, but it must be a huge hounor for slash that of all musicians they ask him to play jimmys song at the hall of fame induction!!!!!!

  • thumbs up if you´d like to go to the Rock´n roll Hall of Fame one day.

  • This song is real cool in the way it's played in e, then the solo is played in e minor. Jimi's a genius man

  • is that mitch mitchell on drums?

  • @121nicholas Yes it is, rip

  • When and where this tribute happend?

  • I mean hey joe with mitch michleas and stevie windwood. you people dont like music if you dont like this

  • Wow...I just love how opinions of slash go from one end to the other . People seem to think he is either a badass, or an overrated schmuck.

  • meh almost fell asleep. Go watch some Popa Chubby's Hey Joe covers instead

    watch?v=xcziOfWCy9A

  • slash should be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame 3 times. for GnR, velvet revolver and just for being as epic as he is

  • @monkeypi6 1st we need Joy Division in though

  • @monkeypi6 you forgot hollywood rose, slash's snakepit and his solo album...;D

    SLASH ROCKS

  • Comment removed

  • @EM8216BALNCE

Dude SLASH ROCKS that's why i wrote it ;D

    Rock on xD

  • @IFnLoveSlash

    i dont care...

    SLASH ROCKS!

  • @EM8216BALNCE amen!!!!

  • @monkeypi6 you nailed it big fella, the man the myth the legend that is slash yeeehaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @monkeypi6 Velvet Revolver????? Really?? Someone has been sniffing too much glue!

  • @monkeypi6 what about Snakepit? :))

  • @monkeypi6 Paul McCartney should get in for WIngs

  • Slash isn't the greatest guitarist, but he makes up for it by being one hell of a rock star. His riffs are far from hard to play in comparison to many of the top notch players. But, he has a certain style that he made work, which thrust him to where he is today. The look, the lifestyle, the sound. He is unique

  • @Loknload you couldnt have said it much better.

  • @Loknload haha his lifestyle is soooo different compared to other musicians ^^

  • @Loknload I agree. He's not the best guitarist for technical ability but for actual songwriting and creativity I don't think there's many who can match him.

  • Slahs is THE bomb

  • the people who say slash is overrated, i want them to tell me why?(this is a serious question)

  • Slash is usually overrated, but he aced it here.

  • slash is the shit

  • i think Slash was being controlled by JImi from heaven. =)

  • Mitch Mitchell: flawless drummer. Never heard him play a single beat I didn't dig.

  • It is funny i think there is à lot of soul especially in the second solo. And i just love the way He slowly builds up the song to à climax

  • Je ne savais pas Steeve Winwood amateur du répertoire d'Hendrix, mais sa prestation au coté de Slash ne ternit pas l'oeuvre du maître.

A écouter et réecouter le soir avant d'aller se coucher

  • Hm oke i find only jimmy can sing it and only him sing it ..

  • who is the bass player here? great bass playing!!

  • @s011330 It's Billy Cox. He played with Hendrix at Woodstock and later on with the Band of Gypsys-project. great bass player indeed

  • @Stackmolnband

Billy was not a good fit for Jimi. Jimi knew he messed up with the Band of Gypsys.

  • God, that was Brilliant!

  • This is a amazing tribute! slash is really playing from is heart and not trying to play it just like Hendrix :) u can't compare all the guitarist in the world cause nobody plays the guitar just the way the others do! it's all about what sound u like best really... hendrix, slash, clapton and 1000 more are amazing guitarist and their sounds are different... so stop whining about who's best or not.. there is no such thing in real music!!!

  • i didnt even know that tone was possible on a les paul. im gonna fuckin try that shit

  • This is the best cover ive ever seen. !! Not just cos im a slash fan !! slash nails this seriously !

  • This is the best cover ive ever seen. !! Not just cos im a slash fan !! sla

  • KIller version - Steve and Slash set a tone for future generations to learn "Sang Froid"

    Excellent - just magic

  • Brilliant performance by my man Steve on vocals.

  • Q8SoldiersOfDeath - you've said it all, much better than I could - "guitar playing ain't about skills....slash's skills suck yea....your local bands may be more skilled than slash"

Lemmywinks0600 - Elton John, Mike Batt and The Tweets have all written songs that everyone instantly recognises - doesn't make them guitar gods though, does it? I've no issue with Mr Hudson's writing skills, just his playing on this particular clip; he'd probably admit the same, if you asked him.

  • Hendrix was great, but Slash ain't - I've heard better solos on Hey Joe in my local pub. He's got the look down to a fine art - hair, hat, low slung Les Paul and carefully maniicured ciggy, but plays the same old lazy beginner Eminor pentatonic licks - and what a terrible vibrato!

  • @deantallhat hey kid.....guitar playing ain't about skills....its about feelings ...slash's skills suck yea....but his notes are amazing .....he got his own style that no one can write like him

your local bands may be more skilled than slash...but can they write like him...hhh they won't even come to 1% of his amazingness

  • @deantallhat Thats where you are wrong, you may have heard faster solos with more intricate techniques in your pub, but that doesnt define a guitarist. How many of those local pub shredders wrote SONGS that the whole world instantly recognizes, people who have accomplished NOTHING in the music world can't act like they are the top musical authority, like you. Slash is a household name for a reason, you and your parents can instantly recognize his songs. He's a guitar god for a reason.

  • Winwood on Lyrics! Why not!

  • he's playing the same licks there are in Guitar hero III in the duel

  • @minikurt67 ...That's the dumbest fuckin shit I've ever read!!!

  • slash sucks in this song

  • You can really feel Slash's soul while he plays his 6 strings.. so mindblowin..

  • slash was voted 2ed best guitarist of all time by the times newspaper jimi hendrix was number one

  • gonna get a lot of dislikes for this... but in my eyes the only worthy tribute made here is emphasizing how much better Hendrix was alone than both Slash and the singer together... but especially Slash, who just fails to pop the song out. Soul is for the soulful- no offense to Slash or anyone else

  • @Gilad11235 you cant compare the two of them, plus playing an instrument is not at all a competition and each and everyone of us has their own fav guitarist, so its just pointless to say whos better than whom (dunno if its "whom" lol, but you get the idea right?)

  • @MysterioFan02 not comparing, and being an addicted guitarist, musician and music-lover I definitely agree and it's most definitely NOT a competition- but I'm just giving my opinion, that Slash is rather a poser to my eyes :P and has no soul in his playing. Maybe hat's just me, and I believe everyone is entitled to their respective opinions- just as I respect yours, friend :)

  • @Gilad11235 ofc. i too respect your opinion. imo hendrix was definitely one of the best because of everything he's done for music, but in my eyes slash and gilmour are my favs (only picked up a guitar cause of them, mostly :P)

  • @MysterioFan02 haha, I picked it up because of Jimmy Page, and later on got influenced at least as much by Jimi as by Jimmy.... then Gilmour came along :P but no, Slash I've never seen right really xP

  • @Gilad11235 No soul? If any guitarist in the world has soul and feeling Slash is the man. You're crazy dude,

  • @robertsja9999 Page... Clapton... Beck... Knopfler... Gilmour... Frusciante... those are some of the live and well-known ones with soul. I don't count Slash among them; but maybe that's just me, and as good a guitar player as he may be, I don't hear the soul in him...

  • @Gilad11235 you seriously just put ????ing frusciante in the same sentence as Jimmy PAGE, Eric Clapton Jeff Beck and David Tone Christ Gilmour, are you JOKING? He's absolutely nothing compared to them, let alone slash. the "soul"? Thats bullshit. Slash is an absolutely amazing songwriter with plenty of "soul". His riffs are the top of the top most recognizable riffs ever, that literally EVERYONE knows, even little somali kids. Sweet Child, paradise city, etc. Now thatsa musical accomplishment.

  • @lemmywinks0600 hey hey let's relax, alright? First of all, in my POV, you are right- Frusciante is nothing compared to people like the others I put in- but what I mean by soul is not in the writing. Slash might be a brilliant writer. I'm talking about the playing; don't ask me to explain it, because I can't... riffs can be damned :P thing is, anything, absolutely anything that any of the above would play (with the *possible* exception of John, for your sake...)-

  • @lemmywinks0600 would sound a LOT better than anything Slash would play, even if they play the same thing... not to mention Hendrix, who is pretty much the god of the guitar- he would sound orgasmic playing a broken broom let alone a guitar

  • i think slash is great but i really dont think this is the best version. not really his fault, the band just sounds really sloppy

  • @hydeparkhaz thats the whole feel of the era sloppy but it works you dont here them out of time do ya

  • whom every says les paul and his guitars suck cant play guitar and dont know anything about them

  • No one thought to mention Steve in the title??

  • lol u can tell slash had to slow down for the band

  • @Senlocc slash had to slow down for the band? you must not realize who those cats are that slash is jamming with or whats on their resumes.

  • @heylover3 u r correct

  • les paul sucks!

  • i love how slash isnt trying to perfect jimis style of playing he play the way he wants to

  • @MrFuchsify i suppose you're a much better guitarist than him, and thats why you're sitting at home talkin shit on the net and he's worked with Michael Jackson, Ray Charles and Ozzy Osbourne just to name three. Shut the fuck up.

  • @xxmartzxx never said that he isnt a great guitarrist dude (really enjoy his stuff), sure he is. just want to say that there are way better guitarrists than him

  • @xxmartzxx You people really need to get a life. All this juvenile arguing......ridiculous! Why don't you go on a road rage rampage? Or perhaps randomly gun down children at a day care center? Or burn down a church?? It's all the fucking same! Until people learn to LOVE INSTEAD OF HATE, society is doomed. Is that alright with you? Do you care? Do you want to die?? Guess what: I love you and I don't even know you!! I'm sure you are a beautiful person with a lot to offer!! Let's focus on that!!

  • Slash may be the most underrated guitarist in rock 'n roll. He pulls it up from deep inside, I'll take that over perfect technique any day.

  • @LeoAsc he's more like the most overrated one...

  • fuck slash is a faggot haha. second worst hat ive ever seen.

  • how are there no guitar tabs?????

  • @sooBored78 LOLOL
