The bell rings, you rush down from the first floor and open the door of the Music class where you're going to have your next hour. As you step in you get slapped with a loud sound, you take a look at the teacher and she's smiling, you point your sight behind her on the projection screen, you see a darker and an enormous guy singing 'I want it all'. You say to yourself: fuck me, this is going to be an epic class!

I'm from the Netherlands and in Januarie 2010 i have been with my hole school class (80 people) to London. I have seen everything but the best thing was at the last night at London. We went to "We will rock you". It's the best musical i have ever seen, and i wanted to go again but london is a little to far. I was the best part off the hole school trip to London, because of that my school is now going a lot more to musicals =) So if you want to see one, go to London!

Me and my class have been in London one week ago (we are from the Netherlands), and the teacher wanted to book tickets for We Will Rock You, but on that moment it could not. So we went to the musical 'Wicked'. And I had "We will rock you" already seen with a friend  on TV and even it was on TV, I loved it. And I have to say that 'We Will Rock You' looks better on TV than 'Wicked' in real life. Can not understand how amazing it would be to see WWRY in real life :)

You really should make the effort to go see it, but here is a brief summary (i know i cannot do it justice):

It is the near future, electronic music has moved from dominating the charts to being the only type of music legally allowed (Live music having been banned in 2030). The mega company global soft dominates all aspects of human life from fasion to school to music. Two rebelious souls apear just before graduation at the school, Gallileo Figaro and the newly christened Scaramouche.

The schoolmaster voices her concerns about them to Commander Koshagi, head enforcer of globalsoft, telling him that Gallileo even attempted to make a musical instrument (a weapon of freedom banned for many years) . The two are then kidnapped and taken for conditioning by globalsoft but then escape and hook up with 2 of the resistance: Britney Spears and Meatloaf (members are named after "great heros of musical freedom") who take them back to their base, proclaiming Gallileo to be "The Dreamer".

"The Dreamer" is the prophet who will reclaim the lost verses and lead them to freedom (Gallileo dreams of lyrics to Bo Rap). Globalsoft commandos storm the base and kill or capture all the rebels except Gallileo and Scara. The two wander on helpless and eventually stumble upon the 7 Seas of Rhye, an outside bar manned by a brainwashed resistance member called Pop. Pop takes the pair to the ruins of Wembly Stadium to search for the last reamining weapon of freedom, hidden away by Brian May.

After prompting some crowd participation with a rendition of We Will Rock You, the guitar is unveiled and Scaramouche is able to play it while Gallileo sings to fight the power of the Killer Queen, the evil leader of Globalsoft and to give rock music (therefore freedom) back to the world.

Follows with a rendition of we are the champions then a singalong of Bohemian Rhapsody

As col as it would be for WWRY to be a film, it wouldn't work. The effect it has only works if you're seeing it live.

I think it would work if they did the effects in a different way. Though like the Ga Ga World characyers were used from Pepper's Ghost and that would look quite strange in front of a camera. But they could always make it look slightly different. It may not work like this, but it could with another solution.
