  • besides the squeaky belt that sounds alot like my small block 350. But I know for a fact that thing could stomp my 350 to dust. I just have Magnaflow cats. What are you running here?

  • I love how the serpentine best squeaks the hole time and how the exhaust doesn't even line up, I can only ponder what a shitty job thee did and how many exhaust leaks there are...

  • reasons i want a lifted truck, no need for jack stands

  • the H2 rims look good on that truck.

  • i have an 01 8.1 which is said to be the fastest year and is actually a 502....for the comment above about the ford lightning roasting it...your wrong..light to light i "roasted" a lightning, and all i have is exhaust...o ya and 33s :)

  • I have an 8.1 too. You have the same belt squeak when the engine is running. Check your power steering pulley. I bet it's too far out by just a tad. Adjust it and I bet your squeak goes away.

  • @TheDurnans I put a Goodyear Gatorback belt on it, hasn't squeaked since.

  • that sounds orgasmic.. so what is that truck running for cats and mufflers?

  • @ryeskater2 Stock dual cats, then just X pipe in place of the muffler.

  • not bad..you should check out the sound of my truck lol..i have a few vids on my page

  • big block? damn i thought they stoped makeing those hogs back in the 70-80s

  • i wanna say glasspacks?

  • -After straight piping a Chevy 8.1 big block-

    ROAAARRR

    Muffler Man: woa..........

  • wut muffler shop u at??

  • thats straight pipes right there

  • ~jizz~

  • NICE! I have a 01 silverado HD with 116,000 miles and it's great i have a plow on it it's absolutly the best when it comes to gas power, i tow my enclosed 18' trailer with it and it doesn't even seem like i'm towing anything. i beat a 7.3 powerstroke going up a hill i managed to bring the truck up to 85 mph going up a hill loaded GM really did their homework with the 8.1L

  • that doesn't seem right, they look more like 2, 3/4" or even 3"...

  • shitty place for ur pipes

  • The big blocks that they use to produce for the GMC and Chevy trucks(496ci) drove GM into filing for bankruptcy. BTW they're filing today as a matter of a fact!

  • Big Block?

  • Yes. 496 ci that Chevy produces. It's a big block. They have torque out the ass.

  • Sweet. I bet it does...

  • They don't make them anymore.

  • more like, "get queer"

  • did you fail english in highschool?

  • the greatest sound I'v ever heared!!!!

    thanks

  • not bad sounds good i got to load my video i have a 6.0 gas engine in a suburban 3 quarter ton its lifted 5 inches all the way around with 35 inch tires and with gibson exhaust with gibson headers and its freakn loud idles a little louder then yours and takes off louder but i like your pipes good work

  • mopar blows

  • thats GM not mopar

  • i was talking to the guy who said "ram v10 bitches" then i said mopar sucks i know its a gm i have a chevy

  • On a suburban I would go a little more conservative and maybe go with a good flowmaster setup, maybe even the 70 series like I had previously on my truck (see other vid) because you will get more resonance inside that big interior. Also I always heard the running the pipes out the back is a bad idea on SUV's because the carbon monoxide could make it's way inside, so I would stick with tips out the sides.

  • Well said BZsZ400, except one thing, my Silverado only has 2 cats (albeit 2 very large cats). Maybe they changed something for 2003 or maybe the state your truck was sold in required it to have 4 cats? My 2002 Corvette has 4 (two main and two "pup" cats right off the manifolds)

  • Mine also only has two cats...

i'm thinking about taking the muffler out and putting two pipes instead, what are the oem sizes on the pipes ?

  • 3" dual pipes.

  • i thought so... i have straight piped mine, leaving just the cats, so my setup has dual 3" coming together into one OEM 4" pipe at the end, sounds better than i hoped for :)

  • you can't wake a damn dog up with magnaflow setups...

  • I may sound like an idiot, but are the chevy (6.0 and 8.1) gas engines made in japan? I heard that the newer duramax's were made there...I'm kinda an "all-american guy when it comes to trucks, so..... P.S.- I'm lookin for an 8.1 to replace my ford 250 V10, thought you chevy guys would be happy to hear that.

  • All I know for sure is the 8.1 is made in Tonawanda, NY (where Chevy big blocks have been made since at least the 60's). The duramax was made in Ohio last I heard although it does use technology from Isuzu. I would think if any of the above were also made in Japan it would be for sale over seas only. I love my 8.1 and it really does not get quite as bad of mileage as everyone thinks if you drive it right. I saw 16.8 on a long trip with the cruise set at 58 mph (that was an experiment)

  • (continued) The 6.0 would be working harder than the 8.1 in a truck this size and the fuel difference would be hard to notice. Now the catch is they quit putting the 8.1 in anything smaller than 4500 series in about 2006. Good luck finding one that is optioned the way you want. I went out west to get mine since I wanted a 6 speed manual (it was originally a Denver truck)

  • Dodge SVT? Didn't know they made that one...Does Ford make an SRT too?

The Lightning is an overrated POS. It's a redneck truck in the best sense. I'd take a nice Silverado SS over that easily. Btw, diesel trucks ain't shit. I'd take a nice gas truck any day, you can pay an extra 50 cents a gallon for your POS diesel...

  • hahahaha, hey man. you dont know what your commenting on. i have a dodge svt. its quite nice. hahahahahaha that kid is a retard.

  • No they dont make a v10, and you shouldnt compare gas vs diesels, they are two different breeds. But as far as gassers go it it the baddest stock gas truck ever made from the factory, it will spank the dodge and ford v10's without even breaking asweat

  • hey i love the 8.1 but it would not spank the ford and dodges lets be honest they are pretty much the same i have driven all 3. the dodge and chevy have a lot better low end torque then the ford (6.8L vs 8 and 8.1L) and you can def tell when you are pullin something but when they are empty it is hard to tell. and the dodge actually makes 450tq at 2800rpm and the chevy is 450 at 3200rmp, and the ford is like 420 or something and not sure what the rpm is lol. but i would say the 8.1 is the better

  • hot damn, thats bout what i got on mine.

    nice man

  • Wow, it's not loud at all. My brother has a 460 in his F-350, and his is disgusting. It's a true dual with an h-pipe and dynomax bullets, absolutely nuts, but has a nice idle. This does not seem good at all..

  • thats cause its a 460, a true big block..but for this video this truck does sound pretty nice i like the crackling

  • As far as I know it is the largest gasoline V8 ever used in any production pickup from any maker. Chevrolet does have larger crate engines (like the 502 and 572). It is a shame they stopped offering it in the 2500/3500's, can only get it now in the 4500-7500 series. I believe they are just trying to force more people to buy the overpriced diesel option in the 2500/3500's. Love my big block!

  • whats the setup?

  • 8.1 liter big block, 6 speed, exhaust is cut off behind the converters then has a 3" X pipe before going into 2.5" tailpipes with 3.5x18" stainless echo tips. No muffler

  • Isn't 2,5" too narrow ? with the OEM being 3" ?
