All so innocent, adorable and sweet - that must have been one reason animals were put on this Earth, so we could be reminded of what our true nature ought to be.....
@typexxx13 Critter Camp is a licensed, 501c3 non profit Exotic Pet Sanctuary- we care for over 300 abandoned abused pets, We turn away animals everyday- wish there werent so many in need of rescue :(
@sancho4567 Yes in many places it is legal to own one as a pet, theya re bred by licensed breeders specifically to be pets- none are ever wild caught. The legalities will depend on your state, county and town- all may have regulations prohibiting exotics-
I think what you are doing is wonderful. I did have a question though. Do you have seperate areas that you keep the males and females? Or do you have them all spayed/neutered? Plus how do you keep the bunnies from fighting. I have rabbits and my males fight if they are together.
@hedgies26241 males and females are always housed separatly, except for the animals that are all spayed and neutered-rabbits & kinkajous ( the gliders are in apirs and the males are neutered).
@hedgies26241 We have a colony of 25 rabbits and there is a dominant female in charge- the only time we have trouble is when we intorduce new oens & they dont get that- usually it works out fine, sometimes we have to separate out new ones again for a few weeks & keep trying. Our area for the rabbits is 20'x20' and all free range.
Shadow the arctic marble fox- he was bred for fur, bought as a kit to be a pet, but it didnt work out- their urine smells like skunk & he got bitey- we took him in & had him neutered & got shots etc now he lets us take him on walks :)
if these are rescued animals then its really gr8, but if you r keeping them for your amusement then its really sad. In one way or the other we all are to be blamed, for the kind of world that we are shaping...
Of course they are all rescues- we would never want to have this many animals as pets! Critter Camp is a licensed and inspected professionally operated 501c3 non proift organization that cares for over 200 abandoned abused exotic pets.
