I've waited so long to hear this piece, it's absolutely extraordinary, especially when you consider it was written 1737. What a contrast to other musical depictions of chaos from the same century; the gradual construction of form and harmony in Rameau's overture to Zaïs and the shapeless but nevertheless directed dissonance in the opening to Haydn's creation. If anything, this is the most bold and striking of them all.
There used to be a post here on youtube some months ago. It was the rendition of Les Musiciens du Louvre. And another by Göebel & Mvsica Antiqva Köln. I don't know what happened, but it appears that they've removed it. So i decided to upload one played by a much smaller ensemble.
Minkowski and especially Göebel's versions are more "aggressive" in sound. But it was the latter who introduced me to Rebel.
I upload it about 4 months ago, after that time was 43 views and 2 stars. I decided to remove that. In the future i'm going to upload again. This is marvellous music... unfortunely there are people that don't want to expand is repertoire of music. Rebel was a marvellous composer and this concert it's trully unbelivable. About Biber, is another hidden treasure in the middle of so much composers.
I'm wainting for the right moment to upload Passacaglia with solo violin of Biber with Reinhard Goebel. The last piece that he play with his arm well and the most beautifull violin piece.
Kind regards, and thank you yto give this oportunity to people listen Rebel music.
I've uploaded the Academy of Ancient Music's version myself. It's a slightly older recording I think, but an interesting disc as it also includes Destouches' Elemens suite which I may upload at some point too.
