this song never gets old , i love it so much!!! praise the lord :) only michael jackson and the swan silvertones can take you sonicialy there......God is good!
I remember my daddy having a white 1970 Sedan DeVille Cadillac. It had an "8 Track" tape player in it. This song was on a Swan Silvertones 8 track that he had in the car. Man he used to play that tape non-stop. Loved it.
I remember my grandma making breakfast, singing this while it played on the record player in the living room...I can smell sausage, coffee and those cheese biscuits now!
@peterpun1 lol just go to the right church. you aint gonna find this at a catholic church. go to a southern pentecostal church this is exactly what you'll hear.
while this shows a king logo i think this the specialty recording. it was a true legend among white r&b collectors. not known on 45rpm it was the holy grail of records.
when soul came along we all thought this was th 1st one. we were wrong but this remains GREAT.
@SoulPowerful Actually, the lineup for this version is Paul Owens and Robert Crenshaw on leads, Claude Jeter and John Manson are the tenors, Solomon Womack was another lead (although not on this song), John Myles on baritone, and Henry Brousard on the bass. There is also a live version of this song with Paul Owens and Dewey Young on leads, Claude Jeter, tenor, John Myles, baritone, and Henry Brousard, bass and they're really tearing the house down. CD is titled Heavenly Light on Specialty label.
I just love listening to these guys. I believe this is the version they recorded for Specialty. I know these's another version they did for Vee-Jay that had music in the background. Both versions are great.

@TjmMinistries Hey, can you tell me if Rev. E. Allen Rundless was present with the Swans at this point?
