It's more of how soon I arch that makes me loose height. If I allowed myself to rise more with my hips rather than throw my upper body backwards right away, I'd have a higher g-flash.
@ryukenosuke Well, the problem is I can't learn tricking. It seems that I lack something (it's probably because when I was a kid I did no sports), but I don't know what. I can do b-kick and b-twist perfectly, but that's all. I was thinking could you tell me what would be the best in your opinion to learn for me, so it could help me to move forward, because now I feel kinda stuck. Thank you! :)
Oh, sure. The easiest way to get started on the right path is to do a google search for "tricking bible" written by Sesshoumaru. This may be outdated information, but it is a fantastic reference for new trickers. Especially how it classifies tricks (class A, B, C...). You'll want to focus on getting class A tricks down perfectly, as class B modifies the class A to make new tricks, and so on. A = back tuck, to B = gainer, to C = corkscrew. It's a great track to follow.
It should. By learning the tricks in order, it helps you to develop a solid foundation to progress from. Advanced tricks are simply modified versions of basic tricks. A b-twist is a b-kick that you wrap. A cork is a slanted gainer that you wrap. A jackknife is a 540 and cheat 720 put together. A hyperhook is a b-twist and a cheat 720 put together. They all spawn from the basics, so definitely learn class A tricks to start.
In that case, try to find someone who will train with you and keep you motivated. And when you two come to the backflip, you spot each other. Surely there are tutorials or videos on how to spot a backflip. A rough description of it is the spotter puts his hand on the lower back of the flipper. When the flipper attempts the backflip, the spotter applies upwards force to ensure the flipper completes a full rotation and doesn't land on his head. Look it up for an example.
@ryukenosuke I am usualy training with my friend who is one of the best in the country (landed double back, tripple full, etc.), but he is very bad at teaching. He tried to teach me backflip some time ago and I actually landed on my neck (luckly it was on sand), so now I have gained a lot of fear
In that case, you may want to visit a local gymnastics gym or cheer gym to get spotted for the backtuck professionally. Many gyms have an "open gym" night where anyone can come and pay a little money to spend a couple of hours on their spring floor. Often they have minor coaches around to keep an eye on things, and will usually help out. That's certainly worth a try. ( :
@ryukenosuke That's another problem. We have no gymnastic gym. It's unpopular here in Lithuania, but I hope it will become more and more popular as free running is. Next year I will go live in another city and I hope there will be a gym for me. For now i will try to learn some other moves, like windmill (from brake dance) and illusion twist (since my b-twist is realy good).
I suppose you could call it an "L" step as I didn't arc my swinging leg all that much, but it's certainly a gainer flash. Whether I'm gaining ground or not, it's really the take-off that determines the name for this trick. ( :
@atxTricker25 Hey. Yea, I live in North Texas. How about yourself? There is an incredible concentration of tricking talent in Houston as that is where TxTricksters is located. I know there is a fantastic tricker in the Dallas/Irving area who I have yet to meet up with, and that's about it. Seems North Texas is more focused around free running and parkour than tricking.
@ryukenosuke yea cause then youd lift with your hips more and it would be more floaty...but its still good and itll get better. just keep uploading footage like this...really helps man.
At 0:26, a second after you've taken off, your back is REALLY arched, and you really whip back, will flexibility help with gainer flashes? I've got them down, they just look really sloppy and i need to clean them up now haha
Flexibility makes anything look prettier. However, anyone can arch their back a little. The j-step gainer flash kick is iconically known for having an arched back. For example, go into my youtube channel and see my profile image. That isn't me. That's just a silhouette of someone doing the gainer flash. Notice how his back is arched, too.

@ryukenosuke do you think the sharp arching makes you lose height?

@ryukenosuke Well, the hardest part in A class tricks is backflip. I am realy scared to try it.

nice man! the only thing i would say is to get a little more height just to make it more floaty....but its really good nonetheless. good job

Thanks. Yea, if I wouldn't throw my head back so soon after taking off, I'd probably get some more height.
