thanks for posting this guys. I've only ever seen this done in a pro wrestling match. though it was done by the Master of the double wristlock Kazushi Sakuraba.
@cuzz63 Haha! Oh hell no. He gets credit for being the first guy in the UFC to use it. But that move has been around forever just like a lot of other submissions.
A random rolling partner casually showed it to me about 4 years ago in a combination he would use. There's a lot of easy effective submissions and variations that the mainstream UFC/BJJ community doesn't really know about yet.
@Patricktsf different positions can give you this submission. its a good move to learn if the guy wont tap with kimura. then try one arm kimura it is mor stronger because you turn corner
As good as a move as this one arm kimura is, it's not a Mr. Wonderful. This one arm kimura is still a rotator cuff submission. The Mr. Wonderful that Phil Davis used was more of a deltoid hyper extension (aka a chicken wing) and it wasn't one armed. He grabbed is left writst with his right hand underneath Tims back. He also didn't rotate into a north south position, he stayed in side control. The mechanics are quite different.
@TechniquePrevails i'm not criticizing the move you guys posted. i love your channel and am an avid fan. i just wanted to point out the differences so that both moves could be utilized for their specific instances. sometimes moves don't go the way they're supposed to based on the physique of the opponent so knowing the nuances of both will give you twice the number of options. as you guys say technique matters. both these moves can be chained together if needed.
@pressureGM Did he exhale as he finished the move? Were the stars in correct alignment as he grabbed his arm? Did a bunch of people recognize the move, so that they posed on here? Close enough...
Phil Davis just said he invented this move when he finished Boetsch with it, in UFC 123, when I saw him do it, I thought, "Didn't I just see this move somewhere today"...lol

Is it normal that the kimura is the hardest technique for me to get a tapout from others?
smokenfly514 1 year ago
great stuff
Like in life many times the opponent does not follow the game plan, so ALL OPTIONS are in play
I especially like when you showed one more move such as ,,, man on the bottom gets his arm free BUT no problem, arm around the neck
thanks

Phil Davis says he invented the 1arm Kimura he used to win? Wonder why Lloyd Irving is saying Phil learned it from him?

It's pretty interesting how this video came out today...and Phil Davis busted something similar to this submission on Tim Boetsch at UFC 123 tonight!

Maybe shrimp escape to the right side with a roll like the armbar escape to get out of the kimura is possible. What you think?
