  • This games was AMAZING Bravo Torino¡¡¡¡ but Vancouver...My gosh at least have hired the circus solei...so Boring, so unfair...

  • im canadian and russia's display at our games were wayyyy better

  • I'm italian, i love this only for my love: Avril ♥

  • I like how they built the logo but this is really boring!

  • Cool use of projection onto the stadium floor, foreshadowing what they would do at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies 4 years later.

  • I prefer Sochi's presentation in Vancouver over this one.

  • my favourite closing ceremony was vancouver's, because of the olympic flame and the way it descended.

  • Vancouver Closing ceromony was far better then this no offence.

  • @koolaidmoonwalk This closing is really bland!

  • vancouver's closing ceremony sure has a lot of...humor in it. :)

  • @cgsilverscreen2020 I was in that closing as a youth performer :)

  • The Opening was AMAZING! ... too bad we couldn't get it all the way up :(

This... this is boring, ill prepared crap. WTF were we thinking?Totally agree with those who said Cirque shoulda been hired (probably shoulda been hired for our Opening or Closing ceremonies to :S)

  • Cirque were asked if they would like to perform but they actually wanted to be paid (unlike the other performers who were honoured to be asked and who did it free) so they were given the flick.

  • a few hours to start the opening ceremony of the twentieth first winter Olympic Games of Vancouver 2010

  • Omg, no offense but this is VERY dull, i hope the opnening cermony isnt going to be like this tmrw,

  • can you believe 2010 opening ceremony is tommorow?!!! wow time flies!

  • @taryndancer29 and now it's all over :(

  • I KNOW :( us canadians had a great olympics! loved the closing ceremony!

  • @taryndancer29 im not even canadian (I live near Chicago) and i thought it was awesome. However, I have visited Niagra Falls and Toronto in 2006; it was amazing.

  • @taryndancer29 haha of coarse who doesnt love giant beavers and giant table hockey players! Canada knows how to throw a party

  • why can't they hire Cirque du Soleil to play. These guys suck and not even interesting.

  • @VS257 exactly.. thats what i ask. Vancouver should have hired them

  • They chose Avril - cause she is a proud 100% Canadian, Nelly would have been a good choice too!

  • i live in vancouver. great place. i have opening and closing ceremony tickets. but there is a lot of controversy. stupid protesters are saying that the money going to the olympics should be going to public housing, education, stuff like that even though the money would never go to that even if there were no olympics. hope the natives don't make the ceremonies lame like they did in the 2010 segment of these games.

  • well, I'm not from canada, but I love that country, and I'll be waiting to see the new olimpiyc games..I'm sure they are going to do a very good job

VIVA CANADA , and greetings from Venezuela

  • beautiful

  • The correct name of the song is "Who Knows"

  • irmaterma, itz Who Knows

  • what is the name of this song?

  • why does avril say 'to knows' instead of 'who knows'?

  • because there was Ice fishing, snowmobileing, eskimos, native chiefs those are steryotypes that the world has on canada and like really the games arnt taking place in Iqaluit this is vancouver show what vancouver is really about. ive been there and it does not look like that at all.

  • i'm also canadian and still wonder without native culture and the other canadian culture displayed here like circ do sol(or whatever) what is vancouver culture? what makes it so special? or what could have been display'd for vancouver. i think this was a awsome way to represent Canada (not just vancouver) it's the country as a whole. ps: avril lavigne is dead sexy in this vid *drool*

  • i'm a vancouverite and vancouver is really about nature, snowboarding, hiking, if you go a little far out, there berry picking and salmon fishing, really, if you are an outdoorsy person, vancouver is an ideal place. but if you plan to LIVE here, it's just like anywhere else, in fact, it's just like a more natural version of Seattle (with lots of rain of course).

  • When the fat guy was singing, I think that a choir should of sang it. Not 1 person

  • canadas most embarrasing moment in history

  • Not to be rude but, how is it embrassing..? I dont know!!! can you explain to me please :)

  • also wtf is up with the eskimos were not eskimos thats up in the territories p.s any americans watching we are developed and i dunno if our governement brainwashed them but vancouver is very populated and is a great city. skyscrapers.

  • OK WTF IS UP WITH THE NATIVES im canadian and i believe that there is more to our culture then stupid natives its an embarassement to us our opening and closing ceremonys are gonna be a disaster it will all be about the natives.

  • i have nothing against avril, but i mean really. could they not get celine dion? or nelly furtado? or micheal buble?

hopefully one of them will show up for our opening ceremonies.

  • they're all canadian? even michael buble? I thought he was british XD

  • ya buble canadian!!

  • I like his accent :D

  • LOL. I think that feist would of been better :P

  • I must admit that I thought that this was going to be a lot worse to view than it actually was. We will be ready by 2010. It won't be Beijing but it will be fine!!1

  • I don't care about the ceremonies, I'm just glad that the Olympics have come to my hometown. I am still shocked that Vancouver is given the privilege to host the Olympics.

  • Dont be.

Calgary got them in 88 and compare to alot of other olympic cites vancouver is a shoe-in.

It's going to be a fantastic games, and to those people who think we wont put on a good show, don't know who is working for vanoc.

  • that preview was.........awkward, except for the avril lavigne part <3

Hope the opening ceromony will be much better =)

  • Anything we do will pale in comparison to China. No pressure Vancouver, No Pressure. :D

  • Except have a joy-full games devoid of oppression and fruitless resources wasteing.

We will blow people's socks off.

  • true :D I'm looking forward to it.

  • Come on Michael Buble

    sing at the 2010 olympics

  • With out the awkward start it's not that bad.

  • Well...

    That was awkward.

Let's hope the opening ceremonies reach A LOT higher. Bring on Cirque de Soleil and hire an artistic coordinator with some balls. This looks as if it was cobbled together by Gordon Campbell and a bunch of goofs from City Hall. C'mon guys, surprise us, cut the Canadian corn and do this thing with some panache... and PLEASE do something to clean up the Downtown Eastside while your at it. The people of Vancouver and Canada deserve better.

  • We got the guy who did the Sydney games.

  • i felt like this was choppy and drawn out for all that was in it.. i liked the cirque-du-soliel kinda acrobatics.. but i felt it could have been bigger more exciting than a man pulling a fish out of a hole.. avril was a nice touch though.

  • horrible preview. and im fucking canadian

  • I'm Canadian too, and I thought it was pretty nice.

tell me, what exactly were you expecting?

  • wow I really liked that. I cant wait until Vancouver 2010.. visited Vancouver for the first time in my life last summer, me and my family were jaw dropped. It's such a great (and good looking) cty!

    :o)

    Thanks for posting this video

  • this preview sucks!

  • excellent quality..... good audio and video... excellent work!!!!!!!

  • AVRIL LAVIGNE FOREVER!!!

  • At least this was better than the Sydney 2000 preview during the Atlanta 96 closing ceremony.(anyone remember the inflatable kangaroos on bikes?)

  • No, Macduck92, you're wrong. It didnt represent Canada well at all

  • I dont think Canadians will do it better than Italians.

Hopefully will be a great games!

  • Well you don't know the rest of Canadians there r not just white people, that Inuksuk is not white, if u want to see the real Inuksuk go to northern Canada

  • My Family Thought it really represented Canada vey well.

  • what was that at the beginning with the natives of four different tribes and the "symbol". it sounded as if no one in the stadium knew whether to clap or not (mind you, not many viewers probably knew what to think after that). hopefully the opening ceremonies are better than that are truly represent what all of Canada is about as well as Vancouver. Even John Furlong (head of the VANOC)said that this presentation was a mistake of sorts. Anyways, can't wait for 2010! GO CANADA GO!

  • there will be hell to pay if he have another warm winter

  • I didn't really get the whole demonstration thing there with the blocks before they built the inukshuk... I think that was more appropriate for Whitehorse or Yellowknife.. not Vancouver. Heh.. I've never seen anyone ice fishing here in Vancouver. haha..

  • fuck you asshole. cananda rules.

  • we dont like you either.

  • as a vancouverite, i have to say this totally sucked and doesn't represent vancouver in any way.

  • See Canadians get resentful that the world vies them as all snowshoeing across icy tundras, ice fishing, and building igloos, and then they go to the Olympics and use their one moment to propagate that very stereotype. Go figure!

  • Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Our big moment to shine, before the entire world, and we cart out Avril Lavigne and some hockey players. Hurrah for cultural freaking significance. I liked the inukshuk in concept, but it wasn't even close to being epic enough.

How about some choreography? We have tons of athletic dancers in Canada; let's use them! And costumes maybe? People in snowsuits is just cheap! At the very least, they could've turned up the lights ...

  • I remember getting chills seeing this live, made me so proud to be a Canadian, great job! looking forward to Canada kicking ass this time in 2010

  • vancouver has sh*tty weather conditions, it never snows in winter, only rains all day, and summer, its super hot. vancouver is consider as the hottest place in canada. and even though the cherry blossums r cool in spring, this year is pretty bad dued to air pollutions. even ppl here complain bout the up and coming olympics in 2010. not that i have anything against it... but if u were to consider going to a place, u should understand the gg and bad of it.

  • Vancouver that a relativly small City , compared to Toronto and Montreal.Which is 3-4 time bigger in population city-wise than vancouver.Beijing it's not even a contest. So i can't believe you're whining about the polution in vancouver. That absolutly nothing compared to much bigger city.

  • Vancouver is definitely not the hottest place in canada and it does snow in the winter, just not a lot.

  • thats the whole point of this... to promote ppl to come to vancouver. but in reality, vancouver is just as sh*tty as any other place. i live here... i should know.

  • W ITALIA!

  • soo cool that video!! i wanna go to vancouver!! haha... mas fino lo de la pantallita xD

  • Thank God NO ITALIAN COMMENTS!!!

    O CANADA!

  • awesome handover Vancouver! can't wait until 2010!
