i got a 1990 gpz500s got some custom shit like carbs and slip on cans. I;ve gotten that think to 143 on the highway. was still slowly accelerating.. i just pussied out :P

The truth is the 500 Ninja, Is just about as fast as the ninja 650r to 100MPH. The top speed is not far off ether. Watch both on top speed runs & watch the time, On the 0-60-MPH / 0-100MPH runs. The little 500 is a bit lighter is why, and there HP ratings are not far apart. My 2cents

@house yea, my neighbor has a 09 versys which has the same engine as the 650r and I can easily keep up even when he's really gunning it. I've even passed him when he made a millisecond hesitation. Should have seen the look on his face after that. :D

@deathdealer004 that was probably either an insane tail wind, or just more speedometer error than average. virtually none of these things go over 120 as read by a gps. most top out around 115

@jalene150 well, a 500 engine is basically 2 250 engines. roughly twice the power. marginally heavier. so yes, the 500 will accelerate much faster

Nice video, I have a 03 500r great for street and highway. I've gotten mine up to 135 think I could have gotten to 140 but would have been pushing it past 9.5k rpm. Then again I'm 5' 8" and pretty damn light. Great learning bikes and even better commuters! Highly recommend!

@Mark1Mach2 for a first bike, you probably dont want a shiny new one anyway. so whichever you get, the looks are the same. if you plan to do mostly city riding, and almost no highway, and plan on upgrading within a year or two, i daresay the 250 is a better starter bike. i probably wont upgrade for ~4 years, and will be doing some highway riding, so i went with a 500.

Had the same bike and i pushed it hard. I wouldn't say it is fast, to me it was just right. Then I sold it and bought a busa and u know right away I had to test the acceleration. Thank God I had a full face helmet cause I have never looked that cool screaming for my life lol.

@americansmark Hi there, I just got one of these the other day after passing my test here in the uk, I'd only ridden CG 125's before and got on this and it's so easy to ride, the extra weight really helps stability even at low speeds. I'm not saying this thing aint fast tho because it is plenty PLENTY fast for me! Just sayin don't be put off by the size or power, just easy on the throttle and you'll be fine :) It's a great bike to ride!

@TX97SR20DET What mods do you have to your v6? there's no way a v6 even with bolt on mods can be compared to this in terms of acceleration. This moves like my modded cobra, if not faster. So you either have a turbo or supercharger...or nitrous. otherwise your v6 will get eaten alive by this bike.
