"160 years of transformation of human beings." And, yet Muslims, Jews, and Christians are still as divided as ever. Show me all this amazing transformation or shut up.
Whoever AJ is referring to, sounds like it might be Sai Baba, is obviously not uniting Muslims and Jews or anyone else. So why is AJ still following this con artist?
I believe god is unknowable but I know something about him. He guides the world by purposeful chance. I wonder how many oxymora AJ will come up with before the end of this video.
The unification of man kind was an original idea so the person who said it must be a god? Why wasn't the guy who invented the internet given the same treatment?
And by moving the goal posts, it's easy for a theist to move into the realm of unknowing and then throw the word "faith" at you until you go away. Or the realm of Philosophy....anything can be spun in an abstract sense. You can just keep going back and back until you say something like "yeah well what happened before the big bang?" no one can ever answer that. My favorite is the flipping of burden of proof....
For the most part what i've seen in these discussions by callers to the show is that it's almost as if they sit there and try to come up with some argument that has never been presented to an Atheist before....or it's a strawman argument in which case usually makes no sense or you can't answer it which is exactly the point of the argument. (Ben Stein does strawman better than anyone). There isn't an argument that has not been heard....and if it's refuted theists just simply move the goal posts.
Religions want to unite all peoples under their banner but they separate people because there are always "the others" that are not part of their group identity. "The others" even have special derogatory names such as heathen, gentile, infidel that go with their denigration of the others. This guy as do all religious people thinks that somehow his group identity is special.
Did GOD make Earth by starting with ashes, clouds, collecting them into a ball and then adding in water, air, and then putting Adam in the garden? The Sun must have already been made earlier before Earth? Then how is that "let there be light" thing came about? Scientists know the Sun existed much longer than Earth, and the seventh day to have light is quite misleading. With this line of thoughts, the Milky Way Galaxy has to be made before our Solar system. God's c=186,000mps is simply a miracle?
I can see why this guy's friend asked him to call. It almost sounds like he is about to get into serious trouble with a religious conman. It's honestly a bit worrying.
@aafrouz What the fuck does that mean? what part of me is spiritual, how do you know, how can i verify this myself, point to my spiritual part?
Cos as far as i can tell people have been spouting spiritual bullshit for centurys and none of it has ever been proven.

@Nemesis000000 Agreed. He's got to be pretty f*ckin' stupid to think that he's "every god that ever existed." It's almost impossible for two diametrically opposed beings to co-exist, especially in the form of one dumbass human who calls himself god.

@NormanAngle I once had a teacher who said something intresting.
If one person belives in an invisible skydaddy then he is crazy, if a hundred belive in it its a cult, if a thousand belive in it then its a sect, if a million belives in it then its a religion.
The Baha'i god is greater than the god of Paradox. Paradoxes and logic are NOT EVEN created by Him, hence the universe came about by chance and we evolved. God did NOT create the universe. God does Not exist.
For example he writes, while claiming to be The Daystar of Truth: "At the time of the appearance and manifestation of the rays of the Daystar of Truth, all occupy the same station." i.e. all people are equal. He also writes about himself: "He Who is the Lord of the world is come and hath shown the way. His faith is the faith of benevolence and His religion is the religion of forbearance... It verily embraceth all religions and faiths.". Elsewhere he writes about certitude being higher than faith
@AJatheistgod So you believe because it says so in a book that some people gave you to read. It's fine if you want to believe that, but it doen't make it true, as Matt and Jeff were trying to say to you. Your arguments are, as you said that your friend told you, circular. If believing in a fairy tale helps you, so be it, but don't expect those of us who depend on logic and reason to agree with you, you're wasting your time.
The god the caller believes in is a very new god. Invented as a way to make up a God that cant be proven false. However, it cant be proven real either, and its a useless god.
@gulbirk You are kind of right that the Bahai concept of God is "useless" because Bahai teachings state that belief in God is not a precondition for being a good human being with a meaningful purpose in life. Baha'is believe in unity of all mankind including atheists, Muslims, Christians, etc.
@AJatheistgod You dont need a ideology to create unity of mankind. And you certainly dont need any special way of live. I see no problem disagreeing with another person and still being their friend. Luckily, atheists arent the ones who crash planes into buildings.
@gulbirk no one is required to believe or hold to a certain ideology, or even live any certain way. However, many people need an ideology to live properly, you and others viewing this video may not need one, admittedly. And to your point about driving planes, you're making my point exactly. Bahai may be a way to cancel out religious fanaticism and fundamentalism. The God of the Bible and Quran has appeared, and he has voided and terminated the laws and teachings of Islam and Christianity.
@gulbirk That the God of all religions appeared. To clarify, Bahaullah states that all religions have mentioned the existence of a God, and that in fact he himself fulfills that -- Bible and Quran have been referring to him, and that now he wants all mankind to be united instead of split up into different groups. BTW, he made No claims to performing supernatural acts like miracles. It is based on science and the laws of nature. he says HisGod is unknowable which essentially means Nonexistent.
@AJatheistgod Why do you call yourself an atheist. Thats the most dishonest thing I have seen in a long time. I thought you were an actuall atheist, but you are just here preaching a diferent type of religion. There is no diference between what you believe is true, and what them muslims christians or hindus believe is true. You all hold the burdon of proof.
@AJatheistgod NO, LOL. You believe in a deity, you are theist. Do you realise what you are saying when you are implying that you are an atheist when it comes to truth. You are saying that you are without truth.
@AJatheistgod What does that have to do with anything. Do you realise that you are just as theistic as any other theist. You are in NO WAY an atheist. And when I ask you something, you quote some of your mumo jumbo new age crap, that probably cant be proved either.
@gulbirk Having certitude in a person who lived 150 years ago is not antagonistic to the pursuit of scientific knowledge, reason, logic, and analysis of observable reality .
@AJatheistgod Good luck convincing the suicide bombers and the christian militia members that their gods are the same and that they will then go "wow, let's stop all this silly fighting, Bahaullah has come". It won't happen for the very same reason that you insist on believing in an imaginary friend. Logic has not changed your mind and lies masquerading as logic will certainly not change theirs. Both the xtian and moslem fanatics will see you as a heretic and an imposter.
I like the fact he said there's only 6000 years of recorded history which is essentially a reiteration of "Fuck you China for using bone oracle symbols as a writing system 8 to 10 thousand years ago!" xXx
@dantrizz My comment was a guess using the "creationist" notion that the Bible dates back creation to 6000 years ago (not all Christians believe this)
If we want to talk about belief, then I believe that if there was some law that said "If you're going to be religious, then you must take the bible word for word and treat it as a literal translation and if not, then you are not allowed to practice that faith". That way, we can see religion for what it is and therefor we can sit back and watch theology tear itself apart.
Actually world peace would be better served without people trying to bring about a unification. Why not just let people do their own thing as long as they don't harm anyone else directly or indirectly? You don't all have to get along (that's impossible some people are just naturally inclined to dislike eachother.) but we can all not kill eachother.
@Shavarnarak The problem with that idea is some people can't do that. Many religions have as part of their "teachings" to go out and "spread the word". It's fine when people just talk, but "spreading the word" can easily be taken to extremes. Install ID in science classrooms for example. Killing infidels. To these people, they aren't "harming others", they are doing god's work.
He's going to bring about world peace and unite mankind...oh but I'm not bold enough to tell you who the hell he is.
I realize it's most likely the Bahai thing, but holy yikes what a muddled bizarro way of thinking. Like reading a science fiction book about some strange future culture lead by some zany leader with nonsensical ramblings about yada yada, and then after reading that book decide that you want to be one of the drone like masses following the weird leader. That's what it seems like.
Only have recorded history of 6,000 years!!!?? Sorry to say, but history goes back a lot further than that. The Egyptian empire has history up to about 7,000 years ago, and the first forms of writings were about 9,000 years ago. The first paintings were in a cave in France, dating back to 20,000 BC.
The caller is dishonest...like more religious folks. If he were honest he would admit that the reason he believes this person who claims to know an unknowable god, is because he is afraid to say he doesn't believe him, because that person has threatened him with eternal torture if he says he doesn't believe.
Waleed Al Husseini is being tortured in prison and about to be killed for being an athiest. Please sign the petition. Look for the group in facebook. Maybe we'll be able to do something for him. Thank you!
lmao i love the non-sequitur leap from desiring world unity to the belief in an 'unknowable god.' he's well-meaning, but christ almighty i hope he gets over that illogical wall in his head.
"The knowable component of an unknowable..." If he considered the knowable component part true and the overall unknowable part true, then he'd ought to consider that a paradox. Paradoxes kick ass.
Incredible,I can´t believe a person can actually think like this caller, and believe things the way he does....I mean...c´mon,he´s so naive, following some guy who claims to be a god?????? (facepalm)
@withoutremorse Checkmate 3:27? The answer to that question is straight forward. I think he's credible. You may disagree that he is not credible. That's your right.
doesn't it bother you when the callers just disregard it whenever they are logically proved wrong? they just continue rambling on about their bullshit
"doesn't it bother you when the callers just disregard it whenever they are logically proved wrong? they just continue rambling on.."
As an ex-christian I can assure you faith has nothing to do with logic. It is all about emotion. That is the true engine that drives it. That is why logic and rationality in general fails to convince believers. What is also important is indoctrination at an early age which makes critical thinking about your own faith much more difficult.
Matt is awesome. Pure knowledge combined with great intelligence & common sense....I feel that he's in Hitchens' & Dawkins' class as an atheist's champion.
@id1337x You still misunderstood what I said. Try to get educated. He doesn't say he's a god but that SINCE god is unknowable, then all references to god were to him. An unkowable god cannot possess any qualities that we can know, duh!
Like a lot of religious people (not all) this guy sounds like he is coming from a good place, and has a good heart. But that is still no reason or excuse to believe or promote something that isn't real, or true, or even an outright fakery. They say "honesty is the best policy" and you know, there's a lot to be said for that.
well, I was just being ironic listening to some comedian and the raised the point about why, if JC appeared in Israel, why there and not somewhere like China where it was far more advanced..... remember that the lord givith and the chinese take-away...
@mandrellian regarding the 6000 years of recorded history... I don't necessarily disagree that he's wrong. We have proof of civilization may be older than 6000 years, but we don't have much evidence of civilization reading/writing and documentations. Maybe they were lost because of the dark ages, or we failed to preserve such artifacts and documents. But whatever, I'd have to agree we don't have much of anything over 6000 years ago, but that's okay... 200 years ago most people were illiterate
@afterdavit I didn't; even the chinese have very little documentations of history over 6000 years ago. I simply believe people 6000 years ago weren't intelligent enough to know how to create readable or writable language yet. Some time ago humans had to have evolved or advanced to become smart enough to read and write, that time may have been nearly 6000 years ago.
@TianSan well, I was just being ironic listening to some comedian and the raised the point about why, if JC appeared in Israel, why there and not somewhere like China where it was far more advanced..... remember that the lord givith and the chinese take-away...
@TianSan ...many a true word said in jest...I am referring to the eventual demise of the States and their submission to the Yellow man and Christianity(Fastest growing religion in China)being taken over by a country that's essentially Comm

gulbirk 1 year ago
@gulbirk Having certitude in a person who lived 150 years ago is not antagonistic to the pursuit of scientific knowledge, reason, logic, and analysis of observable reality .

@AJatheistgod And who is this person?
gulbirk 1 year ago
@AJatheistgod Good luck convincing the suicide bombers and the christian militia members that their gods are the same and that they will then go "wow, let's stop all this silly fighting, Bahaullah has come". It won't happen for the very same reason that you insist on believing in an imaginary friend. Logic has not changed your mind and lies masquerading as logic will certainly not change theirs. Both the xtian and moslem fanatics will see you as a heretic and an imposter.

I like the fact he said there's only 6000 years of recorded history which is essentially a reiteration of "Fuck you China for using bone oracle symbols as a writing system 8 to 10 thousand years ago!" xXx
dantrizz 1 year ago 2
@dantrizz My comment was a guess using the "creationist" notion that the Bible dates back creation to 6000 years ago (not all Christians believe this)
AJatheistgod 1 year ago
If we want to talk about belief, then I believe that if there was some law that said "If you're going to be religious, then you must take the bible word for word and treat it as a literal translation and if not, then you are not allowed to practice that faith". That way, we can see religion for what it is and therefor we can sit back and watch theology tear itself apart.

There will NEVER be a unification of mankind.
But there can be world peace.
Actually world peace would be better served without people trying to bring about a unification. Why not just let people do their own thing as long as they don't harm anyone else directly or indirectly? You don't all have to get along (that's impossible some people are just naturally inclined to dislike eachother.) but we can all not kill eachother.
Shavarnarak 1 year ago

Unknowable. String theory is unknowable. It is a theory at best. Where would you draw the line between unknowable and not real?

The caller is dishonest...like more religious folks. If he were honest he would admit that the reason he believes this person who claims to know an unknowable god, is because he is afraid to say he doesn't believe him, because that person has threatened him with eternal torture if he says he doesn't believe.

if you really still believe in Christianity in the 21st century you are literally too stupid to be debated with.

@xoloxum

Like a lot of religious people (not all) this guy sounds like he is coming from a good place, and has a good heart. But that is still no reason or excuse to believe or promote something that isn't real, or true, or even an outright fakery. They say "honesty is the best policy" and you know, there's a lot to be said for that.

mandrellian 1 year ago
@mandrellian regarding the 6000 years of recorded history... I don't necessarily disagree that he's wrong. We have proof of civilization may be older than 6000 years, but we don't have much evidence of civilization reading/writing and documentations. Maybe they were lost because of the dark ages, or we failed to preserve such artifacts and documents. But whatever, I'd have to agree we don't have much of anything over 6000 years ago, but that's okay... 200 years ago most people were illiterate
TianSan 1 year ago
@TianSan don't forget the Chinese...
afterdavit 1 year ago
@afterdavit I didn't; even the chinese have very little documentations of history over 6000 years ago. I simply believe people 6000 years ago weren't intelligent enough to know how to create readable or writable language yet. Some time ago humans had to have evolved or advanced to become smart enough to read and write, that time may have been nearly 6000 years ago.
