Yes, I started watching it 10 years ago by making fun of it (no 13 year old would be caught dead at that time watching Star Trek). It was on re-runs late at night so I would watch it while brushing my teeth. I got addicted and now its my favorite show.

With DS9 I felt like you could connect to the characters more. I also, thought that it followed Gene Roddenberry's vision of how Star Trek should be, to create a world in the 23 century to talk about the problems of the day. The wonderful thing about DS9 is that you can watch it and it is a fun story or you can analyze it and see how it is like our world today and what we could do to make our earth better. (I hoped that answered you question ;)
