from the Hockey Hall of Fame website, (search 'Darren Boyko') '...a memorable season for 'Darren Boyko' was taking part in the famous Quebec City Pee-Wee hockey tournament The result was bittersweet for his team, the Saint-Boniface Saints. They lost their opener, which put them on the consolation side, ...another Winnipeg team (the Monarchs), led by future NHL star Brett Hull, who were victorious in all their games 'au Tournoi', won the Pee Wee Tournament!!!!!
if anyone is interested in how this all came about... let me know.. we had already been to Minnesota at Christmastime and won a Tournament there.. we had never heard of the Quebec Winter Carnaval let alone the Quebec Pee Wee Tournament. Our coach was an Elementary School teacher, and he had us out selling chocolates and doing bottle drives in the cold.. he showed us a film strip of the Quebec Winter Carnaval Pee Wee Tournament from the '60's one Saturday in January. What did we care?
Of course, Brett Hull went on to win a few Stanley Cups, but I'll bet the Quebec Pee Wee Tournament ranks right up there in his books.. the excitement and joy of 12 year olds.. hard to recapture as adults.
Je m'en veux tellement d'avoir chanté ça dans ma jeunesse.

Steve Yzerman, Mario Lemieux, Pat Lafontaine, Patrick Roy, all participated in the Tournament that year.. it was a big deal.
