Quite the versatile performer! Excellent tap dancing, superb ballet dancing, and amazing baton twirling and a terrific singing voice! I can certainly see why she was picked as one of the second season replacement "Mousekateers" from those cattle call type auditions the show hosted to find the new "Mousekateers" for that particular season. It's too bad she didn't continue in showbiz after her time on the "Mickey Mouse Club". She definitely had what it took to make a career in it!
in this clip, is from the talent round up day. here Linda Hughs is one of the talent round up winners, and is performing. only a few people won those, and got to perform their talent on the show, some even performed twice. also linda hughs have done a lot of skits, if not few. she was in the blue team, so u didn't get to see her as much as the red team members
This girl, Linda Hughes, can sing, dance tap and ballet, plus twirl. Three separate talents yet I dont recall seeing her on Mickey Mouse Club reruns I watched in the early 60s. I never saw any of the original shows from the 50s. Why was she not featured and what happened to her? Anyone know?
By the looks of the regulars, it was probably the last season for the show. There were many Mousketeers who are unknown and forgotten now. Some were on just a few shows and then disappeared. This was a one-time appearance for this girl, I'd bet.
I can't believe people are thinking she is not dancing very well...dancing on point is VERY difficult and painful...these days they wouldn't even allow a kid that age to dance on point...deforms your foot too much as it is growing. She did great, geez...what do you expect.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Disney Channel, and today the channel just STINKS. I believe that many of the child actors on these shows have as much charisma as a malfunctioning PARKING METER.

well she is not half bad but her form on the ballet is way off you are right, she is not over her boxes, and her movements are abrupt and on top of that, she is lacking posture on some parts.
god, the ballet segment was pretty hard to stomach. Nice to see good pure twirling though. Loved the part where she bounces it off the floor- more control than I thought she'd have!
I thought they did four seasons! Because it says that in the The MMC book!

I am wondering if she is the same Linda Hughes who became the Golden Girl at Purdue. She held the position from 1973 - 1976.

Do you have the Talent Roundup Day for (I believe) January 1958? The Thompson
Brothers did "Steel Guitar Rag".
As Disney hasn't shown these in years,I'd think they are "fair use". The DVD's they
had offered for sale didn't include these episodes.

I seem to recall an act named The Thompsons (1959) who did an excellent
version of the song "Steel Guitar Rag" on "Talent Roundup Day"...and it's not on any recording. Can you find it?

I LOVED it!! She's not perfect, but that's what I love. She looks like a child dancing! Great twirling!! Too bad this kind of innocence is gone

I wonder if Annette and Cheryl are really playing those saxes, and if Doreen is really playing that clarinet...not!

This is a 50-year-old performance. Any idea what's happened to her today? The whole thing was pretty cheesy by today's standards, but back then?
