so i've just recently starting getting into jazz, fusion, (like mahavishnu orchestra, jaga jazzist, hiromi uehara, the seatbelts) and i was wondering if you know of a complete ideal like jazz fusion technical improv jam band...i've been here for an hour just scopin out different bands and i know nothing about it so id appreciate the suggestions. thanks.
All these are closer to Fusion. I guess jazz is taking on a more general term for all improvised music. Jazz is like fusion, just much less tight. Much more room for whatever. Nice list though. there are a few things I havent heard before that I liked.
It didn't used to be, but Jazz certainly isn't what it used to be. No way is this relatable to Louis Armstrong. The only they have in common is improvisation. I'm not trying to pin down what Jazz is at all, but I'm just saying Jazz is completely different now. I mean, when other things evolve, we don't call them what they used to be, we come up with something else. Why isn't jazz like that? On the other hand, I don't think things need names, so this is pointless.
thank you for the advice!i will search for them! and...this is exactly the reason i've putted this video. For people to listen this type of music and if they have other advices in this gender to tell them for me and other to listen :) thank you!

Because both of those bands contain a good amount of instrumental virtuosity. However, genre wise they are completely different

Because within the genre it is considered necessary to push forward into new grounds. I do see what you are saying though.

Check out Kiko Loureiros instrumental jazz albums. They really rock!
Charles Mingus is also really nice, it's more of a bebop type jazz.
Weather Report is also good.
Perhaps you know of these artists.
