  • He's just the greatest. I always listen to this song when I need a lift.

  • This was held in NYC in 78-79, would have to go look at the ticket stub. It was a guest filled show hosted by Todd. 2 Shows, Blue Oyster Cult, Patti Smith, and others. Where's the rest of this?

  • Anyone know what year this was?

  • Best TR song ever...and that's saying a LOT...

  • sounds great live. I love him. This band was crackerjack.

  • This song says it all. We all need the love of the common man.

  • crazy talent...and also I would say a very very underrated guitar player...ya gotta love the tone he wrangles out of a fender mustang....and his soloing is great.

  • the fact that he sounds live the same way he sounds on vinyl is a testament to his talent. This a most underrated artist and a true star. I love him.

  • OMG! He's playing a frakkin' Fender Mustang!!! Too cool!!!!

  • Todd is like family to all his fans ... Love.

  • Soooo Hott!

  • thanx for this post! todd jamming , playing guitar! and singing too! awesome sound!! great song!

  • Definitely another one for my Favorites !!

  • Look at Todd!

Suck my dick if he's not the Top Guy ever!

  • Fuckin' eh'!!!! what a tune!!!

  • What an excellent, underrated (as always, with Todd) song. it was far better, and easier, to listen to than most of the pop crap out at the time.

  • The guitar solo at 1:37 is and remains my all time favourite.

Wish I could go back to this time, it all went by so fast.

  • I saw Todd 11 times between 1977 and 1984 .... saw him do this song may times, and was pleased almost every time. Once, he busted a guitar string on thi song, ended up slinging the guitar around to his back, and sang the rest of the song, clapping his hands to the standard time. But when the song was over, he was PISSED. He SPIKED that guitar over at the side of the stage -- he is the world's biggest perfectionist!!!

  • How true, takes me back to a wonderful time. I think that Utopia at the time were not appreciated for the great music they performed. It sounded great then as does now.

  • Thanks juve98.

I find it ironic that Todd used to say 'I can't get outta the guitar what I want to', heard it in more than one interview and yet the solo in this piece is still my favourite after so many years.

And then to also be a keyboardist, and he can play sax, drums, his synth work was unprecedented.

Betcha there's nothing he can't play.

    A Wizard for sure.

  • on his website (which he made!) it says somehting (not exact) like

'being a guitar player is a lot like being a wild west gunslinger..

...everyone is trying to cut you'

    so true!

  • neo runt - See the AWATS shows over Labor Day in Akron, OH then the following weekend in Chicago.

  • Kasim Sulton in a John Seigler wig! WTF? haha! lol! John is the bassist on "Faithful" Kasim: the last member to join Utopia.

  • Todd has his genius moments

  • Todd doesn't write 'em like this anymore! (a true shame...)

  • Saw him play a show a few weeks ago and the new stuff really kicked-ass. Great stuff old and new.

  • first time I've seen him play a Fender...

  • What kind of axe does he usually play, Gibson?

  • 90% of the vids I've seen he always plays a Gibson....

  • He actually prefered the sound of a Fender, he said they had more bite and cut through the mix better. He started using Mustangs in the mid 70's and used them until they were stolen in 1980.

  • nice to help out down and out people!

  • good song!!!
