  • 5 people belong in Kendale with a bucket of wealthy man's paint.

  • more good advice

  • This is an awesome song!! Better than Cat Stevens Father and son.

  • still don't know why you can't call what you're wearing an outfit. What are you supposed to call it? Love the song anyway.

  • @sarairosenbaum he's talking to his son... male's aren't supposed to call what they wear "outfit"s... clothes...

  • Patterson looks like Tony Iommi and Jerry Garcia had a kid in this pic... lol

Come to think of it he plays like that sometimes as well...

  • Lyrics to let a lil' en' live by.

  • <3 Im happy my boyfriend showed me this:)

  • Song says: Don't get too big for your britches. Live right. Be true. Pretty simple to me.

  • This song made me remember what I was missing when I left Bama.

  • I love the Truckers.

  • finally a band with something to say and rock out doin it, rock on truckers!!

  • We all have great asperations when we are young...some of us have different priorities and would rather give up a little money just to be closer to our loved ones. This song is a reminder to me to do what makes me happy and never compromise myself for a little extra dough!

  • @haxciniaflame thats strange because it reminds me to do the opposite. I had to leave my wife and 2 kids in Bama to find work up north. This song makes me remember to work hard and pay the bills any way I can and teach my kids to be proud and good people and if I do that maybe just maybe they wont make the same mistakes in life I have.

  • @wht02lightning That's sad and yet hopeful at the same time. It's sad you had to leave and hopeful because that means there is hope for the future.

  • My favorite DBT's song.... My anthem...I live in Muscle Shoals, Al where this song is talking about and go to NWSCC tech school... awsome lyrics not only just because they hit home. Think ill go get a bottle.

  • i bet you don't even have a job, crimsonmonkey spanker. U love that monkey cock don't you? haha, fukn loser

  • crimsonmonkey, your soundN like a hypocritcal biggot asshole yourself, you don't know what your fukn talkin about.

  • @crimsonmonkey you are an idiot

  • @crimsonmonkey It must make your thinking so much easier to base it on stupid assumptions like this. That way you never have to evaluate a person as an individual. My, it sounds exactly like racism in that respect.

  • @crimsonmonkey I don't think it's shit if he sales his car to by a woman a ring. If you think it is then well... you can burn in the eternal hellfire.

  • @ragehawk72 you are a moron

  • @justinfalterm so are you... aren't we all... your words do not pierce my skin... for this poet sees more than truth in words, and i know what i believe and i believe what i know

  • I'm 14 and the first time i heard this song ...was the frst time i watched my dad cry. Hes a painter and this song fits his life perfectly. It brings me to tears.

  • I live in the Pacific Northwest and this song still makes me cry. Jason Isbell is the best lyricist I've heard since Bruce Springsteen early years

  • Boy this is one of their softer songs but god what ever happened to rock n' roll? This band seems to be are only survivor. This is just my opinion but I think The Dirty South is their absolute best album. Lookout Mountain is my personal favorite Truckers song :) PS Don't get me wrong I love all truckers albums I even have their new "The Big To Do" album as well all Trucker albums are fantastic.

  • I'm a black guy from Ohio. I love DBT!

  • @mississippibluesboy and i'm proud to be a Southpaw, they're about the same.

  • One of the few things that makes me proud to be a southerner

  • painter for 8 years. love this song

  • You want to be old after forty-two years, keep droppin the hammer and grindin the gears.

Perfect but no one listens. I sure didn't.

  • This is the only song I've ever heard that makes me wish I was southern. The hell with stereotypes, there is a noble pride in this song.

  • too bad that there aren't any songs making me wish I was "northern".

  • indeed

  • Try Good Old Boys Like Me by Don Williams. A =n oldy but a goody.

  • @kishkumenhah thank god for DBT,proud to be southern without being an uneducated racist shit

  • Gotta love these guys!!!

    5* and faved!!

  • There are many "don't forget your roots" songs out there.

This is BY FAR the best that there is.

Always strive to be better, but don't forget who you are in the process. Advice that we all could listen to from time to time.

  • dbt get a big hell yea!!

  • Great song and good advice.

  • i was drinking with a good buddy from Newfoundland, listening to decoration day for the 1st time here inVancouver, I left then crashed my bike, and since then, have been addicted to tracks 5 - 9, on repeat incessantly. favourite part is the guitar line at 2:48. Brilliant.

  • Yea Drive By Truckers!

  • i like the references to the beatles and john lennon's "we're bigger than jesus" quote

  • yeah, it's brilliant eh. I actually used that reference in a line of one of my songs years ago. It made me laugh when I heard it in this song, they used it better than i did though, ha.

  • One of the best songs they sing. Thanks for posting it..... see ya at the rock show!
