Im using my sister in laws computer watching this so am commenting from it too....i dont want to say too much but Molly Leigh is my ancestor,someone comments above that the rhyme stated in the video is incorrect and it is 'chase me round the apple tree'....nice to see someone speaking of her but please research more thoroughly.i am of Boswell (gypsy)blood so all my knowledge is from official agencies and family knowledge passed down.

I was born on Pleasant St in Burslem, My mom told me the stories of Molly Leigh

when I was little. My friends and I played hopscotch in the churchyard when we were 6 or 7. I always thought my mom told me the stories to scare me from playing in the churchyard (it worked). Before my mom died I asked her if her stories were true and she told me that she had been told them over and over.

Great video, I only heard a couple of things different about the legend but things do change over the years.

We used to sing a slightly different chant & were told it was a raven.

Either way, its a great video & 1 of my old friends confirmed pretty much what you said & if anyone should know she & her family should cos she's related to Molly.

damien3001 molly leighs cottage was at nettlebank, smallthorne on the main road opposite the cemetary on the hanley road, but it was demolished years ago and there are new terraced houses there now

@SarahArielBelle its a tue story put my foster parents were born 1918 and they said they were told by there parents and grandparents that molly lee was a good person she was no witch and the vicar of st johns church had it in for her that christianity for ya and she s not been repreived from the wrong done to her they should turn her the right way now that would be justice 4 her so sad

My Dads ex wife had a photograph taken by the grave in 1965 and when the pic was developed there was all black clouds in the background.
