  • This brings back my memories of the Minnesota Men's Chorus ... Yikes ...that was 37 years ago .

  • I just performed this as part of a quartet yesterday. I'm very impressed with the Cornell Glee Club because this is a REALLY hard piece of music! But I'm really puzzled as to how the chorus moved up a whole step throughout the piece but found their way back to C major at the very end. Did anyone else notice that? Either way, excellent job Cornell!

  • I think this is one of the most meaningful songs I have ever heard about how hard it is to say "Good-bye" when physical death takes a beloved husband by surprise. It could apply to anyone who anticipates their own, untimely, time of passing from here to eternity

  • 0:45- 0:50 I am so sorry

  • RIP Lee. What a beautiful heart. =D

  • These guys gave us a fantastic performance last night at The Savage Club in London. A memorable evening.

  • we are doing this song in honor of our director, who is going to the middle east very soon. As high school students, he is like a second father to us, putting in so much time to get the best out of us musically and personally. He is compassionate, and we will miss him so much. he sang this to us and we couldnt keep from crying, and will be sure to do the same when we perform this in may. This piece is gorgeous.

  • is this Last Letter Home by dropkick murphys performed by a choir?

  • Comment removed

  • No, but it is similar in story... if definitely not in style. I'm not sure if the Dropkick Murphys song is based on a real letter, but this is exact text from a letter that Pfc. Jesse A. Givens had written for his wife shortly before he died in Iraq set to music by Lee Hoiby. I think both are great in their different ways. Hope this helps!

  • " Go outside and count them ! "

God bless this soldier and all his compatriots !

    Good at ya Cornell !

  • we guys need to come to middle schools to sing and show that us that if we try our best we can accomplish something snaps not sssh

  • Rutgers Glee Club member here: You guys are fantastic. You get music.

  • My father went to Niagara. At games he said that they would sing: Down by the Cayuga's waters, there's an awful smell, some say it's from the water, still others, Cornell. Cornell, you smell! No disrespect, just a silly memory.

  • As a former CUGC member I have to say the guys did this song proud, I'm in a group planning to perform this in June and hope we can do it as well. We are at the stage now of trying to fight back tears as we rehearse

  • No joke. I didn't see anyone who wasn't crying by the end of this.

  • I was there too. I was in the second row. Oh my goodness, it was amazing. I was handing out tissues to everyone sitting around me. I also had the privelege of seeing them at Eastern Division last year. A-mazing!!!

  • I was there for the performance. There wasn't a dry eye in that whole place!! Including myself. So beautifully emoted!

  • This is a song of true beauty. Filled with so much love and sadness. I adore this.
