They're currently having trouble controlling costs of a plan that now the government is involved in. At least we have that problem but the government isn't as involved. Wrong. Fed Ex and UPS are thriving despite the post office. Choice is better. Without the post office rates at Fed Ex and UPS would be even higher. The post offices next day air rates are lower so they keep Fed Ex in check. In Los Angeles, there are private ambulance companies that thrive alongside public ones. Private insurance companies will do just fine when and if the public option passes. People like you who are scared will keep private insurance companies in the money.
But the post office is going bankrupt. In B.C. Canada some private clinics have sprung up. Patients are going there because they can't wait for treatment in the Government run system. So, in effect they pay twice. Now the Canadian government is looking at these private clinics to decide if they are legal in their system. Is this the kind of choice we want in the U.S.?

I've never had an insurance company comment on my health care, surgeries or anything else. I get the care I think I need and the insurance company pays for 80%, except for my deductible amount, which I chose.

I've lost friends to the Canadian system - and frankly, having no insurance or welfare in the US is better than being rich in Canada vis-a-vis healthcare. But that's not the point! You know, you're absolutely right. In 1994 Switzerland passed a referendum forcing every citizen to purchase health insurance. What is optional about that? They're currently having trouble controlling costs of a plan that now the government is involved in. At least we have that problem but the government isn't as involved. Only 11% of Germans buy private insurance. Did you forget to mention that?

Wrong. Fed Ex and UPS are thriving despite the post office. Choice is better. Without the post office rates at Fed Ex and UPS would be even higher. The post offices next day air rates are lower so they keep Fed Ex in check. In Los Angeles, there are private ambulance companies that thrive alongside public ones. Private insurance companies will do just fine when and if the public option passes. People like you who are scared will keep private insurance companies in the money.

But the post office is going bankrupt. In B.C. Canada some private clinics have sprung up. Patients are going there because they can't wait for treatment in the Government run system. So, in effect they pay twice. Now the Canadian government is looking at these private clinics to decide if they are legal in their system. Is this the kind of choice we want in the U.S.?

I've never had an insurance company comment on my health care, surgeries or anything else. I get the care I think I need and the insurance company pays for 80%, except for my deductible amount, which I chose.

I've lost friends to the Canadian system - and frankly, having no insurance or welfare in the US is better than being rich in Canada vis-a-vis healthcare. But that's not the point! This is not about improving insurance or care, and it is not modeling Canada or Britain per se. This is a power grab. If Canadians & Brits read our Bill they would be appalled. Not only because it carries all of the flaws in their own systems, but new infringements AND HIGHER COSTS! WE CAN'T AFFORD IT!

For you to make no admission that your system is even remotely flawed is delusional. We want reforms - but not what our gov't is currently proposing. We don't want that level of gov't control - they've already intruded too much as it is. We've myriad programs already. The most expensive insurance plans here are those given to gov't employees, not private citizens.

Yeah., Insurance overheadl used to be 31%, but the Senate gave their insurance company masters permission to raise overhead to 41% now. The Harvard University study released a couple of months ago says it's 45,000 Americans a year who die because of insurance-run health care.
