Ok Jim, I'm in the same situation and your video is a big help. My main valve is 27 years old and needs to be replaced, although it is not yet leaking. I called the city two days ago and have not yet received a response. I do have time to wait, but if I was in a jam I will think of doing the same as you, on a temporary basis. (you better start talking to BP).K
hey idiot why didn't you call your water dept.they usually come out fairly quickly to shut your curb stop off,so you can make your repairs.this way you don't get all wet...i work for a water utility this viedo made me laugh my ass off
@1954harleyman No they would have taken a while to come out I live in a small town. I had a blast doing it, It was quite the experience & well worth it:)

I opended the valve while I was fighting with it & it went right on. You can here me say " I half to open it a little" When the jacket is over me.
