im sure it wasnt his choice people come there to hear army of any one but they also want to hear there favorite stp and filter tunes and there giving that to the fans it may not be perfect but people who havnt ever seen stp or filter live get a little taste of it so all u guys out there shouldnt bash them
Okay I like their CD, it's way better than Velvet Revolver. But for God's sake how hard is it to sing Big Bang Baby? Glad STP and Filter are both back though. GNR should do the same.
to be honest...its the only song scott keeps screwing up these days. Scott is back to being in great shape (most the time) with STP and his voice is finally changing back from the VR style he had adapted too...but he cant hit the highs or the lows in this song live anymore.
the army of anyone cd sounds good except for the singing. yes he's a good singer but he sings every song the same and there's no variety. it makes everything just seem to blend together and make it all sound like one song

weiland is a fucking talent leech , heard any of his solo stuff.
the deleo brothers are rad and i cant wait till they find scott face down in a rug somewhere ...all the talented ones lost to drugs...and you think the hack would drop ?

This is a case of the sum of the parts being greater than the whole. Army of Anyone is a better band than STP was, as is Velvet Revolver. STP kicked ass, but AoA & VR BOTH kick ass, so you get twice the ass-kicking goodness for the same musical buck. Or something like that...
This is one of the few songs that Patrick's voice is actually similar to the style Scott was singing in. Plus Scott's voice seemed to really struggle during the Tiny Music phase (stung out phase) He seemed to come back much more strong vocally after he "cleaned up" a bit
im going to have to agree. i love Patrick and everything he is associated with, but he really doesnt have the flare needed to preform this great stp song.sorry.
In my opinion there should be a "no cover" rule of old material from a new band. STP is a good example because Richard Patrick can't live up to singing Scott's words and Slash and Duff can't live up to the unique energy that the DeLeo brothers have created together. It's just weird and i know i'll get shit from those who love it when they do old songs at these shows, but alot of times songs get butchered.
Richard Patrick is over music. I heard he only wants to do soundtracks... Such a bummer. He is so under rated.

It's an amazingly difficult song to sing..
But anywho, Richard Patrick is not in the same ballpark with Scott Weiland (or Trent Reznor for that matter) but I still really like Filter.
It's not that bad of a cover, especially given it isn't his song.

Patrick doesn't have Weiland's flare and charisma.. This song shouldn't have been covered =S

I was there...they were very good. This doesn't do justice. Best show I've seen in years. Shook hands w/ Dean & Richard.
