  • If you're capable of doing such a good drop volley, by all means go for it. Many players arent capable of hitting such a shot so a normal shot to the far baseline will still probably let you win the point with an easy follow-up volley

  • @andrewxleung Hey Andrew. Again, it's important to at least show the drop volley often enough that the returner can't always guess that you'll be going to deep instead.

Especially off of that low volley where you have to slightly hit up and it's tough to get much skid on your volley.

Even if you only 50% of those drop volleys, your percentage of deep volleys will then go up.

  • @webtennis Clarify - 'Even if you only [win] 50% of those drop volleys, your percentage of [winning] deep volleys will then go up.'

  • i think it would be harder for u to pass someone from way behind that if he got to the drop volley. ull have less time to read the pass. but i guess it all depends on allot of things, like the quality of the drop, and how well the person is at passing. im just used to getting passed by my friend soo much, but hes just really go at getting to drops and has great wrist control

  • @millionairejh One of the keys to the success of the drop volley is to make sure you do show some variety with that 1st volley.

If you keep trying the same shot over and over, you'll lose the element of surprise.

    Keep working on this shot.
