Before we used to get a full and varied sports line up but now? We have to watch ex-professionals getting excited whilst they watch TV themselves. Shouldnt be entertaining but it is however give me Grandstand anyday. The days when all sports seemed to be treated equal until money became the prime motivating factor.
@Jamie10004 They still are with news, but they weren't always bang on time, just the news and Grandstand. Everything else went out at an approximate time to the one published in TV guides.
I have to say and I do so with all do respect in the world but this show was great I think this was the UK's answer to all the sports shows in the US like ABC's Wide World of Sports,NBC's Sportsworld & CBS Sports Saturday/Sunday pretty neat stuff
No. That clock was last seen before Grandstand on Saturday 16th February 1985, and those temperatures *wouldn't* have happened early in the year (least of all in 1985). I think this is probably 1984.

The athletics vids are actually from the 1983 world champs in Helsinki, not Los Angeles in 1984.

this Grandstand opening was introduced in 1984 after the olympic games

Back in the days when you could watch sport on TV without paying through the nose for it.

It's wierd seeing CGI like along along with the 1981-85 clock. I don't know why.

Hey Robin, do you know when this was broadcast?
Visonu 2 years ago
No precise date, because it doesn't say which sports were featured. But definitely 1984.
RobinCarmody 2 years ago
Do you have any more, Ollie? I'm sure I could date it if the clip went on just a bit longer ...
RobinCarmody 4 years ago
1986 sometime I reckon as I'm sure these Grandstand titles came into being in 1986.
