most 2 cycles need a resonator or some king of exhaust to make any power. i tried to "open up" my weed eater with poor results. that's why 2 cycle dirt bikes have that funny looking bulge in there exhaust that's there resonator . but im no expert.
Yep, I pulled it apart eariler this afternoon. The crown of the piston and top of the cylinder were not that bad. However because of piston, cylinder and ring wear there was significant carbon buildup on the sides of the piston and in the ring grooves.

Interesting set up!! i've never seen a crank like that in my whole entire life!! It looks like those rings are shot, good luck finding them eh!!☺

@805ROADKING
Ya, for sure they are shot! Im not going to worry about it though, still got enough compression to get by.

what type of oil did you use at what mixture? that can make a huge difference in the RPM you get out of a 2 stroke

@KrankieV2
I think I used about a 16:1 or 20:1 mix with 30 weight.
16:1 mix is spec for this engine, probably whythe muffler got clogged.

@SmallEngineMechanic 16:1 with regular SAE30ND 4 stroke oil right?

@KrankieV2
Yep

take the cylinder off and clean it up really good because when 2 strokes are dirty they run really weak not like 4 strokes

check the reed!!

@ils360
There are no reed valves. As the crank rotates the intake port is uncovered allowing the mixture in.
