  • Hey! Can you feed adult BP's those? Also... How long does it take for a baby to become an adult?

  • @TheStoryIsOver Umm me either. They are gentically modified. The only rodents that I had that you can say are " genetically modified" are my webster strain mice. But my asf rats are 100% natural

  • OK... OK... I get it. Snakes, birds of prey, etc need feeding. And I also get that you breed soft furs in a better environment than other people, but I just find it amazing how some people just see them as money. The previous comment seems to think that they're genetically modified... I mean... wtf? They're a different specie.

When researching them I found comments about people saying how they enoy torturing them. It's wrong.

  • @oopqooify Yea i dont see them as a big money pit like there were when first brought to the states. I breeder told me 10 yrs ago they were about $50 bucks a pair. I buy mines from $1-$3 each depending on demand and time of season. Usually from July to around November they cost alot more because ball python babies are hatching and alot of breeders use them for there own picky eaters.

  • Aw, they're very cute too! My only issue would be figuring out the right ratio and amount of animals so that I always have the right sizes available for my small-medium snake collection.

  • have you been beaten yet?

  • Where in Chicago do you live?? I would be interested in coming down and buying some asfs from you. Let me know what you have available.

    Thanks,

  • @batottahell1 Sorry I dont breed them anymore but you can find them at the Animal Expo in Wheaton,IL

  • hey wussup man.. u still sellin ASF's?..

  • when do you take out the babies ?

  • are you located in Chicago at all ? i would love to buy 2, i have a couple rats already, i know it might be hard to tame them, but thats what i would love to do.

  • how to will they grow to when there adults?

  • you really should be feed them bird seed they do better breeding wise if you use bird seed that what they eat in the wild thats all i feed my asfr

  • im in kansas and am wanting to start a colony anyone know whare i can get some?

  • will you sell any to a californian???

  • they walk behavior like normal rat not mice ..mice walk more like fast.

  • @timdylanjacob try craigslist.

  • Hey, I'm trying to breed some ASFs, I've seen them mating but they don't look pregnant nor have they dropped any babies. Any advice? I have them in 4:1

  • Comment removed

  • i finaly found them

  • I've got to get myself some of those. I hate working with mice!!

  • where do u get them?

  • Over and out. Great Video 5*

  • hi there, do you still have AFSR available or for sale?

  • u can keep the males wit the babies

  • you went to the "lee watsons swap"?...well not lee watsons anymore

  • can you sell me some of those im willing to pay any price you name if so where are you in chicago so we can meet thanks

  • Lovely accent :)

  • do you take the male out when the female has babies

  • NEVER take the male out with africna soft furrs. When doing so and whe nyou reintroduce them the male will be attacked by the females. The males are awesome care givers and nurse the babies as well. im breed them for snakes and for pet stores with over 400 of them now.

  • From a reptile show in Wheaton,IL

  • Different species, they will likely not breed and/or kill eachother.

  • Awesome! I was thinking about getting a soft fur colony, but wasn't sure if they were any better than mice and rats. Since I live in a small apartment, I need something that doesn't stink. Thanks so much for the information!!!

  • If they're anything like fancy rats, handling them from birth or 4 wks should keep em freindly. I have 9 rats right now (fancy) and our female had babies once and all of them were pretty social and I found homes for them. Also, Don't you think you should put the food IN the cage so they can eat it better? Also, for the water bottle, you could cut a hole in the side and stick it through like that so then they can't chew on it. They are very cute though, i've never heard of them before until now.

  • I just got two girl African Soft furs, but they will be reading for breeding in 3 months. Thank you so much for the informative video. Theyre hella cute. I got 2 ball python and 1 corn.

  • hey dude love the vid do you care if i use my hacker to stur like 5000 views on theis vid???

  • whats a life span on a common rat you would find at the pet store???

  • About 2.5, or 3 years.

  • tyy

  • i usually breed russian dwarf hamsters, but i decided to soon start breeding ASF rats also, since i heard they make alot more babies and i have 5 snakes to feed lol so it would be easier for me, and these rats they only reach maturity around 3-4 months old unlike other small mammals that why it took you long to get your first babies

  • Hi, I want to start breeding ASF for my snakes, but i was wondering if they would be able to bite themselves out of the clear plastics tubs. Not the dark ones you have. The ones you buy at Home Depot for an example...thanks

  • I wouldn't because these rats chew alot. If you do make sure the corners are round.

  • Hey, man, looks pretty sweet. You willing to sell/ship some?

  • Yes sell and no to shipping. Too expensive to ship. But I will always sell locally

  • you should feed them to your other animals as soon as possieble cause if you don't after a few weeks you'll have hundrets of them.

  • i got some from my petstore

and they where about 6% each

  • hay check out my african soft fur rats vid and give me your ideas

  • hey man where do you get asf rats? i have never located a place that sells them

  • Okay I might try that out one day.

  • You should try what I did, put a litter box on the side where they usually crap. Once one of them learns to use the box, most will do the same. Worked for my rats that are 2 months old. Saves on bedding and makes the cage easier to clean.

And yeah, rats don't stink as much as hamsters and mice.

  • hey thanks for the great videos! my question is if they bite than dont they bite snakes that your trying to feed? thanks.

  • Thanx for the info!

  • Yeah, they bite! A pet store one bite the crap outta my hand. Did NOT want to be held. Not naturally friendly.

  • Lol..Naw I just didn't want that bullshit on my post. I can give a flying fuck what you say.

  • You have to give them time,be patient. Honestly it took them about 3 to 3.5 months to get my first litter. But once that first litter came all of them start having litters back to back none stop. Thats why I have to build a rodent rack because now they are producing like crazy. Just give them some time and try not to feed them off..lol. Also I seen your video about your rats..you might want to get some opening and put some screen in the tubs for more air circulation.

  • Good video. I've got ASF's too and they are great! You've done well to point out the good and bad points with them. Thanks for taking the time and effort to create this!

  • No problem at all. And thank you for viewing my video.

  • r they bigger than mice???

  • Yes much bigger..After I loaded this video I then saw that you cant see the size difference between mice. I would say they are the size of a small(large) rat..around 100 grams or so..maybe I will make another video showing you some of my big mice compared to one of these asf rats

  • alright thanks man=)

  • kool rat
