There wasn't a great deal going on in Derry at the time (entertainment wise), but this lot where great. Thirty odd years since the Bull park gig and I awoke this morning with this tune in my head. I hope your proud of yourselves boys.
OK, so they're obviously lipsyncing, but is it the single or album version of "Who's Gonna Tell Mary" that we're hearing? I looked for a download of the song online and the version I found sounds different. And it's nowhere near as good.
@rdt0710 I don't think it's either, the album version is very different and almost completely leaves out the hook. It was probably pre-recorded, along with the rest of the songs on the series, at sessions especially for it (just like TOTP).
@gregorypope23 Interesting! Thanks very much for the info and for posting this beauty of a song. I have heard repeatedly that the band were better live than on record. Wish the sessions you speak of would come out officially (or un-officially for that matter) so we could all enjoy them. Cheers!
glad i found this... im 44 now and played this song in my first band at school....great days and better memories. thanks for the upload.

Awesome! Someday some great pop-rock group is going to dust this off, and if they covered it they'd have a huge hit!

A friend of mine got the lyrics wrong. He thought they were singing, "Hey, Mary is screwin'."

@rdt0710 Their Peel Sessions were released on cd several years ago. Worth saving a search on eBay, as they do come up from time to time: )
